All of a sudden- I can't fully reinsert any memory cards into the camera. They go almost in, but don't snap in like they used to. This happened with the memory card I use most of the time - I had it out of the camera to upload photos to a different computer. When it wouldn't go back in, I tried a spare memory card but no luck.
I don't want to just use the internal memory. Any suggestions other than returning to Kodak? I've had the camera several years already and really like it.

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". Some include trying to use a 4GB SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Others include problems with the tiny slide switch on the side of the card, or the electrical contact switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card). Troubleshooting tips for this problem may be found at this link. By the way, the Z730 was made before SDHC came out. Only consider 2GB or less standard SD cards. They're very inexpensive these days on Amazon.
If you normally connect the camera to the computer, first remove the memory card. Then the only pictures available for download are those in the internal memory.
If you normally put the memory card into a card reader, first copy the pictures from the internal memory to the card. Follow the instructions here to copy the pictures: http://resources.kodak.com/support/shtml/en/manuals/urg00402/urg00402c3s11.shtml
Hello. Some of these memory cards have a small lock slide on the perimeter. Check yours to see if in fact, it is in the lock position which would prevent you from formatting. Formatting erases everything from the card so the lock is a protection.
