Dell Inspirion 1526 Laptop Battery is not charging

Laptop continute to fluctuate with on 1 - 4% available power in the desktop tray. Runs fine off ac power adapter. Original power adapter was damaged and replaced with another Dell ac power supply. Any way to run remote diagnostics to determine the true problem (i.e. AC adapter or bad battery)?

My daughter as a Dell Inspirion E1505 and the battery is shot. I purchased a new battery and the charge showed 96% then overnite went down to 3% and it was on and running off AC. I purchased a new AC adapter and it did not correct the problem, any suggestions? Thanks

Sound like the battery. Take the battery out and there should be a power meter on it, press it, if there are three lights that flash, the battery is shot. Not all batteries will flash if they are worn out, but they are supposed to. Try a new battery, I believe this will coorect the issue.

The battery in AC power does not charge but it says in the tray icon that it is charging but still displays 1% available power and does not progress...

Check for a bad DC connection:

Symptoms of a broken power jack
1. If you wiggle the power cord or the AC Adapter connector on the back of the laptop, the power LED and battery charge LED start to flicker.
2. Battery will not charge in the laptop.
3. Laptop runs fine off a charged battery.
4. With the AC Adapter connected the laptop appears to be dead.
No power LED or battery charge LED activity.
5. Laptop randomly powers off without any warning.

If your laptop is out of warranty, then you can fix the problem by re-soldering DC-IN jack on the system board. If it's still under warranty, it would be fixed at no charge to you.

I have a Dell Inspirion 1525. I have a fairly new after market replacement battery which I have only had now for 4 months. I am using Vista. As soon as I unplug, computer shuts down. I go to power settings...

The adapter is working correctly. The battery is either slow to charge or in need of replacement.

It's possible your battery isn't charging at all so to test this boot into bios -> battery status and watch it run overnight.

Dell inspiron 1526 has problem (plugged in ,not

Hello there:
First you will want to ensure that the power cord is fully inserted at both the laptop and all the connections for the cord and that it is getting proper power. and check tosee that the connector thatthe power cord goes into is not loose if so this will have to be repaired
next remove the battery from the computer and unplug the power cord and then press in the power button for 1 minute than if this has a reset button on the back use a toothpick or a small item and pressin on the reset button for 30 seconds
now insert the power cord (NOT THE BATTERY YET)
and turn on the computer and it should now start up if so insert the battery and leave charge for 1 hour than you should be ok from here ok
Please keep me posted on this so i can assist you if needed.
Best regards michael

I have completely lost all power to my inspiron 1526 laptop

Hello,

Please try the following DIY to find the issue:
1.Remove the battery and press the utton for 30 seconds and then plug the adaptor and run on ac mode without battery and if it is powering on then issue is with battery.
2.Refix the battery and check whether power LEDs are blinking.

If not in both the cases this is the issue with the MotherBoard and you will have to contact either DELL or any repair vendor.

Dell Inspiron 1526 cannot communicate with battery

The diagnostic Error is a False positive you can ignore the diag error as the LCD is functional. If the battery is not recognized in the BIOS or you get an warning the AC adapter is not recognized, then you may have either a damaged AC adapter sensing pin (Fine wire in middle of ac adapter connection to Laptop) or a problem with the charging unit on the motherboard.

If the sensing pin is damaged or the ac adpater is not sending the right signal to the system, the battery charger will not work. SO if you have another Dell D series AC adapter, you can try it 1st. If the battery is 18 mos to 2 years old, you might see if it is IDs in BIOS and if it indicates battery state. Also the battery should have a test button and 5 LEDs on it. If the 1st 3rd and 5th LED flash the battery is bad. ANy any come on solid, then it is a % of charge, each LED = 20%

If you end up replacing hardware, then it will most likely be in this order:

AC Adapter, Battery, Motherboard

Adapter is plugged in, but not charging for my Dell Inspiron 1526. Any thoughts?

turn on the machine and as soon as you turn on the machine keep on tapping f2 which takes you to BIOS screen, In the system option come to the Battery info and if it is showing battery and shows ac adapter as none it means adapter is faulty if it shows ac adapter type unknown then be prepared to purchase a new system board for your laptop

Dell inspirion 6000 battery/charging problem

Also, check to make sure that you have a good connection between the laptop and the charging cable at the power port on the rear of the laptop. We have an Inspirion 6000 with this problem and we've discovered if you pull the power cord out very slightly and lift it upwards, the charging icon appears in the system tray. Appears to be a fractured connection inside the laptop at the power port. Changing chargers does not make any difference.
