Question about Yamaha HTR-5940 Receiver

1 Answer

Yamaha HTR-5940 turns off after one second.

My Yamaha HTR-5940 worked fine for 6 months. Now it does not turn on. It turns on for a second when I press the front power button and turns off. I opend the cover and checked the two fuse. They are fine. Do not know what to check or how to fix this.

There is a 2 in X 3 in X 5 in size box (white and black) has the following things written on it.

BANDO
BD21A35A - 0005B
X7494 A0
BEM1 - AD8

Thanks for your help!

Left from speaker not working- Yamaha HTR-5940-6.1 channel

Redbird,

What do you have in the "multi channel input" jacks on the rear of the receiver? Those inputs Right, Left, Center, Surround R+L, and Sub are used when selecting 6 channel mode. They bypass the receivers surround processor board.

Turns on then off.

It probably needs a set of output transistors, 2 pre-amp transistors and a 5.6v zener diode. Possibly a resistor or two. I've fixed many of these. Definitely a job for a pro.

I have the same problem as you but no thunderstorm. Mine happened after I connected speakers with the unit operating and had a speaker wire short at the back of the unit. Got a whiff of smoke and now I have that DSL1U unit clicking same as you. Did anyone suggest a fix?
