I purchased a Braun Contour Series, model 5790, electric razor at Wal-Mart on 1/2/07. I was informed when I bought it that it was warranted for 2 years, and states the same on the box in which it was packed. Now, the razor loses power during a shaving time. Also, the battery seems to be weak because it does not hold a charge as it once did. The trimmer doesn't work properly, either. I need to know if the warranty will be honored if I send it in for repair, and I need to know where it should be sent for repair.

first check the power at the outlet if it is an electric version. If you have batteries, make sure they're charged fully. You can also test the motor and switches to make sure they're functioning properly.
The batteries are hard to find in order to replace them, I would suggest purchasing a new one from wal-mart and swap the batteries and return the one you bought for a refund, Wal-mart will send the one your return to the factory for a repair anyhow so no harm.
According to the Braun manual for your 5414 Contour, the specs for charging are printed on the electric shaver cord plug. (it's REALLY small print, so I'd get a magnifying lens to look at it!)
There isn't anything in the manual about the multiple voltage for charging the shaver, so I'd have to defer to the Braun (Gillette/Proctor & Gamble) customer service folks to make absolutely certain of what can and can't be used as a charging voltage before trying.
Here's a link to your manual, in case you're missing yours.
Dear Freddofrog,
please ensure you have removed the plastic plugs from the cleaning fluid container. If you have removed these i would suggest that the fluid contaner is faulty, your place of purchase should exchange this for you with no problem.
i have the same issue but the charge/clean light on the razor itself wont come on or charge at all. Braun said to send it in for repair/exchange and to find out whats wrong with it.
