Question about ASUS A7V8X-X (90-M7A690-W0EAY) Motherboard

1 Answer

System panal connector

Hi,

My name is Ryan and I'm trying to install and activate this motherboard I just got. I ll get right to it-first of all, I don't seem to have cable marked SMI(system management interupt) inside my tower. So I did my best to put everything else in place and what s happening is-the motherboard is starting up and the CPU seems to be the only component picking up any power. My IDE s are good, everything else on the connector I m talking about seem to be in place..................there s just no power to anything

You will need to open the computer case and check that the cables that run from the actual power button to the motherboard are plugged into the proper spot on the motherboard. Sometimes reseating the cable can fix this issue.

I think this is the link to your motherboard documentation: http://www.via.com.tw/download/mainboards/3/4/p4mapro533_r100.pdf

Check the page 2-14 or 2-15 and see if that helps you to identify the actual connection for your power switch.

Is there a way to increase the factory maximum ram of 512mb on a Sony PCV RX550. Purchasing motherboard, etc.

The only way to increase memory capacity on any motherboard is by replacing it with a new one that can take more. Rather than do that in your Sony computer, though, you should probably consider replacing the entire computer. Here's why.

First, you may not be able to fit a different motherboard into the Sony case. Many computers were made using proprietary motherboards with non-standard sizes or mounting hole locations. Then, they often have non-standard connectors for the front panel switches and lights, making it difficult to hook up. The power supply will be a problem. Guaranteed it will be too low-power for newer motherboards and won't have the right CPU power output connector, so you'd need to replace that as well. But a standard power supply may not fit into the case; again, proprietary power supplies with odd sizes were often used. So now you're looking at replacing the motherboard and power supply, and possibly the case, just for starters.

You'll need a new processor and RAM with the new motherboard. No new board will support your current processor and RAM. And you'll need a new hard drive and probably optical drive as well. New boards are designed for SATA (serial interface) drives. There won't be enough connectors to re-use the older IDE devices in your Sony.

You'll probably need a new copy of WIndows, too, unless your Sony still has an XP or Vista product key sticker on it. You won't be able to use any factory restore discs because the hardware will be completely different, so you'll be doing a fresh installation from scratch.

The bottom line is that you're going to end up building a new computer. If you just want a basic computer for the typical things like Web surfing and office use, you can buy a name-brand system for less than the price of all the parts, and it will come with Windows installed and will be ready to go. If you're wanting a super gaming machine or something tailored for a specific use, and you're willing to do the work, then by all means pick up the individual parts and roll your own.

Scsi \ raid host controller my system dont know this

Sounds like you need some drivers, I assume all the connectors are correctly in place. If you can goto your device manager and see if there is a small yellow triangle with an "!" in the middle. Right click on this and search for drivers. If that doesn't work it'll be your chip set drivers. Look on the motherboard or use a program like CPZ to find out your motherboards model, go on HP's website and find the dirver. install manually.

Sound driver is not activated as i lost my motherboard cd.my mother board is intel845

First try with this (click here), open the link and click "Check your system for the latest updates" and follow the onscreen instructions, it will help you update all the required/necessary drivers of your motherboard.

If it's not helpful download and install this (click here) and search with your exact motherboard model. Since you didn't mention the exact motherboard model and the Operating System installed on your computer, i can't direct/make all these specific. If you need further help, let me know the exact motherboard model and the name of the operating system installed on your system.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

It could be a bad driver, have you checked Sony's site for an update, or looking a non-sony, later version of the driver for the device, perhaps just google SigmaTel [device name]?

Asus m2n E Sli board audio

I had the same problem, and it went away when I connected the the front speakers via the 'ac97' connector from the case, instead of the HD audio connector. It seems using the HD audio connector, as well as using no connector and forgetting to put back the jumpers originally set over 2 of the front audio connectors pins, will cause no audio from the back ports.
