Thanks for the offer of assistance. I was running it on a Mac under OSX 10.4. It was formatted as a FAT 32 drive, and apparently this can cause problems with macs.
I tried several different Macs, and a PC to no avail; but then after leaving it switched off overnight it suddenly started to behave properly and my Mac could read it. I ran out and bought a new drive and backed it all up asap. It's still behaving properly now, having had it's little tantrum.
    Regards

First when you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in enable vga mode.
If you are able to enter then go to start menu->control panel->display property ->settings.
Change screen resolution to 1024*768 then apply and ok.
But if you are not able to see safe mode and other menu.
Then open cpu cabinet .
Refix RAM memory.
Pull cmos cell from motherboard for 10 minutes.
Reattach all connection harddrive.
Open processor fan and processor remove dust from all parts.
Make sure motherboard is not ground with cabinet.
Remove PCI cards if any.
After all above still same then change RAM then try.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

400GB Freecom external hard drive stops functioning itself.

I assume you are running windows operating system. You need to uninstall all your usb devices. Go to computer manager/device manager and select all USB devices and unistall them. Go to the start menu, click on run type compmgmt.msc. Find all your USB devices on the right side. Follow the instructions for each device to uninstall them by double clicking and then select uninstall. once you uninstall, click on the icon to scan for hardware changes located on the sub menu. Your operating system should recognize new hardware or reboot and the operating system should install them automatically again. After you reboot, logon do not connect the harddrive until you are logged in completely. The operating system should recognize a new device and install it automatically. I hope it helps.

Freecom 400GB Hard drive not recognized.its a Freecom mobile drive xxs 400gb , my pc just cant recgnize the hard drive

I'll assume your using Windows.
I'll assume it's a USB drive.
I'll assume it is an external drive.
And I'll assume it's formatted as NTFS.

Try using the USB (or FireWire) port for anouther drive to see if that is the problem, if it is then reinstall the driver for the port, through the Computer Managment Concole (assuming yur using windows).

If you formatted the drive as FAT, re-format it as NTFS.

I have a freecom 400gb external hard drive plugged in to my usb 2.0 port when i turn it on i get a message saying it will perform faster if its plugged into a usb 2.0 port any ideas

This means that although your hard drive is capable of handling usb 2.0 speeds, your PC has the older USB ports or if your PC has USB 2.0 ports, you don't have USB 2.0 drivers installed. You will most likely find USB 2.0 drivers from your motherboard manufacturers website.

hi there,
sounds like you have a hardware problem...you should look into trying this drive on another system to see if the same thing is happening without the drive software ...and if it works try to recover all your data from this drive as soon as possible...hardware problems are most time intermittent ... so they work now then say after a while they stop...

Freecom 250 Gb Hard Drive

Hi des,
you need to install windows XP, on a different hard-drive.
even if it,s only 10 gig plus.
You can then access the drive.
Your problem is here, is that you,ve upgraded from XP to Vista, theres a possibility, that you may have lost or even formatted your freecom hard-drive.
No-Support-Device detected, is saying that your USB devices are not functioning correctly.
Check in the bios that the USB devices are enabled, to operate your hard-drive. ( this is assuming it,s a USB drive )

Hope this helps you out.
