Question about Audio & Video Receivers

1 Answer

Just inherited a Pioneer F727 and need to connect it to a new Yamaha V863. The Pioneer has numerous connections as does the Yamaha. I will be using the disc player for both audio and video (CD/DVD). What kind of connection would give me the very best service? Thanx!

If you have HDMI on your TV use the component video / digital optical from DVD changer to the receiver. Your receiver will upconvert the picture. The sound will also be sent via the HDMI. If you don't have HDMI still use the digital optical or the digital coax connections. The next best thing to HDMI would be using the component connections (RED, GREEN, BLUE) Good Luck

Hi,
Problem seems in standby power supply board and most likely leaky capacitor(s) or cold/ dry solder connections in that circuit board. It is hardware problem and does not look like speaker wires or connection cables fault.
Hope this will help.
Thanks.

Look in the manual for which version of HDMI. If it's 1.2a, they had a problem with the boards and were repairing them. Contact Yamaha @ 1-800-292-2982 Hope this helps

I want to use a 4 ohm center speaker on the RX-V863. Will that work OK? The two main speakers are both 4 ohm.

It should not be a problem. Most speakers nowdays are 4 ohms and since your mains are 4 ohms there should not be a problem. Your manual should stipulate the impedance and it should also be on the amplifier somewhere. Let me know if you need more help.

Do you have all 5+1 speakers connected? You need to go to the Setup menu of yamaha and set which speakers you have and which you don't. For example if you don't have the Center speaker connected, receiver will redirect and mix the sound to the other speakers.
Blue-ray film over HDMI should automatically output via all your configured speakers (nothing to be configured).

No video from RX-V863

This reciever might not upconvert component or composite to hdmi, which means if you have anything but hdmi hooked up you will not see it. Check your manual for what all the reciver will ouput.

I have yamaha v863 receiver. when i play movies on dvd. Any times

Check to make sure no wires are touching at the reciever. Next step is process of eleminaton. Unhook each speaker until it works or if you have a meter you could always check to see if you have a blown speaker or shorted wire. I would first disconnect all speakers and check to see if unit does it with no speakers connected.
