Question about Grundig eTraveller VII AM/FM/SW Radio

Grundig etraveller Vii

My Grundig Etraveller VII has gone crazy. I can only turn on the power by means of the sleep switch. I cannot set the time, I cannot switch bands, I cannot use channel up, I cannot set the alarm, I cannot store stations, I cannot even tune in a station. Sometimes the radio will appear to be finding a station, but just rolls past any that are strong and nearby. I have tried the reset button, and using fresh batteries (yes, the polarity was correct) & the + and - buttons do not respond. The power on and power standby and power off buttons do not respond. This is a rather old model, it was given to me as a birthday present by my son perhaps 10 or 12 years ago. Has it simply reached it's limits and must be replaced? Up until this point (6/21/08) it has performed flawlessly.

I was advised to purchase a new Grundig eWorld Traveller. I don't know why I spent $10.00 on such foolishness. I thought all the pirates were in the Caribbean. I shall not return to FixYa again. I would furthermore like my sawbuck back. This is a cheap trick and I don't relish the thought of some radio repairman laughing behind my back. What goes around comes around. I can only give FixYa the lowest rating possible.

Screen lock decode

Some Grundig/Eton radios have a button with a key lock symbol.Once the button is pressed it toggles between lock/unlock. In the lock status, the settings (frequency, time, scan, etc.) are disabled. Another function that is disabled is the Power On button. This feature prevent the radio to turn on if the power On button is pressed inadvertently when the radio is in a bag, or a suitcase.

I have an Eton G3 recently purchased which has an operators manual, but does not contain any references to the layout of the buttons etc. I would like a link to find out the correct use of the radio

The buttons are marked and the use of most of them is self-evident.
The number keys are used to enter frequencies (direct tuning).
Lock locks the radio and prevent changes (trurning ON or OFF, changing frequency, any function change is blocked)
Sleep sets a timer.
+, - go up or down in frequency, or when you are setting time.
U/LSB is for toggling Upper or Lower Side Bands.
Auto Up and Auto Down are for the automatic tuning system (scanning the frequency spectrum)
AM is for switching to the AM (medium wave band)
AM/Meter band is for switching to the Short wave bands, and FM is for Frequency modulation band.
VOL + and - increase and decrease volume levels

Page/time: It has 700 memory locations to store frequencies. These are organized in pages (maybe up to 100 pages). You jump to next page with that button. Used also when setting time . Please read the instructions.

F1 to F7 are used to select the day for the alarm. F1 for Day 1, Sunday, F2 for Monday, etc) You can set an alarm for each day of the week.
Reset to reset configuration
TZ/Line in TZ set time zone, Line In if you wan to use the speaker of the radio as the output device for a signal from some other radio, or MP3 player
The tuning knob may also be used to change the displayed value while setting time (I can't remember exactly. You have the manual)
Erase erasing a stored frequency or a page (Check that)
Copy see above.

My Grundig s350 radio powers off as if it is on some sort of timer. I cannot figure out why or how to stop it.

The ON button is also a SLEEP timer. The timer can be set to 90 minutes, 75, and son on. The shortest time period is about 1 minute. Press the ON/SLEEP button several times. After each press read the number displayed. As you push the button again you will cycle through all available timer settings. Choose one that its long enough for you.
However if you press the ON/Sleep button for a few seconds the radio will play continusously until you turn it off.
Just play with the RED button a few times to get an idea how long to press to make the radio play continuously.

I have a Grundig Mini 300 World Band Receiver and the power button has stopped working so I cannot turn the radio on.

Spray some WD-40 on the on/off button and press and release the button multiple times. This will clean the gunk built up on the micro-switch and make a better connection.

I have a Grundig radio S350DL and I cannot switch off the sleep function and therefore the radio automatically switches off after 30 mins. or so . Can you advise? Les. Akers

The Power and Sleep Functions share the same button. If you press the Power/Sleep button repeatedly you see numbers displayed 90, 75 60, ... 01. These are the duration of the sleep functions. If you stop at 60 the radio will work for 60 minutes then turns itself off. This must be a battery saving feature so that a radio will not be on for ever. Suppose the radio has been on for a while (long or short) and you want to turn it off without waiting for the sleep timer. Just press the Power/Sleep button.

My radio powers off every few minutes. Needs to be turned back on by the on-off switch. How can I stop it from turning off automaticly?

When you press the Power/Sleep button the radio turns on and displays a number 90, or some other numbers. This is the play time that the radio will stay on then turns itself off. It could be that yours is configured with a sleep timer set to 01 minute, 10 or 15. You need to set the timer for a longer period. Thus we turn it on by pressing the Power/Sleep button, read the timer length then press again. Keep making short presses: The timer will cycle through all preset sleep timer durations. Select the length you want.
