Question about Sony CMT-ED1 Shelf System
If you mean the CD spindle hub, not the stabiliser.
Then you can buy the PlayStation 1's CD spindle hub
(plenty, just google with keyword ‘Playstation 1 spindle hub’ and you will see) to replace it.
Just push in the new spindle hub, not too close, not too far, from the laser head.
I did, it worked.

Here's the user manual which may help some folks:
Got my unit at a yard sale for 5 bucks. What a great sound!!!
The note on the CD lid referred to a stabiliser, but there wasn't one. The CD started skipping and making a whining noise.
Eventually found the manual and saw that the stabiliser was just a capto weigh the disc down so I put another CD on top of the one I wasplaying to add a little weight and it seems to be playing well. GoodLuck to you all.
