Question about GE WBSE2090A Top Load Washer

1 Answer

Water won't fill

When I turn the knob to the wash cycle, where the water usually starts to fill, it doesn't do anything. I usually notice the sound of the water 'kicking' in.....but there is no sound at all. When I advance the the knob to the spin cycle, it will spin the clothes, but no water.
I would appreciate any help you can give me in this matter.

If it is doing it regardless of setting water temperature to hot or cold, then the water control valve to which the hoses are attached has failed.
These are junky when new, not generally expensive or difficult to replace.

If one source is working and the other isn't, you may have screens at both ends of the water hoses and one end is clogged.

Removing the back panel is pretty easy and the valve is normally not tough to reach and often held in place by 1 or 2 screws only with 1/4" or 3/8" heads.

If you have a Johnstone Supply in your area, the part will cost about half as much as from GE or Sears.

Will fill with water but doesn't start cycle

One possibility is that the timer motor has failed.
That would mean the timer should not be sounding like there is a clock (ticking) inside, and the knob should not advance as it ticks.
You can listen for the ticking by putting your ear to the control panel on top.
The reason it fills is that that is the first step, and it would do that, even if the times doesn't work sometimes.
Be blessed.

From the closed position lift the lid of the washer about 2'' and listen for a distinct click. Then set lid back down and should hear another click just before it closes. The wire form hinge on left side of lid actuates the lid switch. Is it broken? Let me know.

Kenmoore 800 washer doesn't do anything

Possible that the timer controller is faulty as it fails to switch or move in the cycle of the program
Use WD 40 to clean the switch, the knob can be replaced if this turns loose.

Washer will fill but won't do anything after that when turn to spin cycle it will work just replaced intake water valve before this started

The timer is bad (this is the knob that you are turning to get the spin cycle to work). Order a new one from, use your model number to search for the right one. With age, these timers go bad and is usually is the problem, not much else can cause the exact problem you are having. Let me know if you need anything else.

Fill cycle stops before full

It's underfilling The water-level switch regulates your washer's fill volume. This switch is usually a diaphragm device with a small, clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the pressure on the air in the tube increases. When the pressure reaches a certain level, it activates the switch, shuts off the water, and signals the timer to begin the agitate cycle. If the switch is defective, it may prematurely signal the water to shut off. If so, you probably need to replace the water-level switch.
