Question about Hoover Dryers

1 Answer

When loading the dryer (Hoover Maxi 6 TV30) a continuous 'buzzing' noise can be heard when the on switch is pressed. This can be heard for a few moments or a little long then everything is OK. Occasionally I have to tap the front panel (just above the timer) to resolve the problem. I have been advised it might be the relay.

Based on your complaint it, certainly sounds like a relay,(typical), or it could be the timer motor. I have no way of knowing if it has a relay. Generally this is harmless.

BUZZING NOISE

Is this noise a motor buzzing noise? If motor has power but the start circuit is not energized, then the power through the run winding cannot start the motor and may make a buzzing. Need to address the type of buzzing and if the motor, then check motor circuit.

Dryer makes a buzzing noise when I turn it on but it doesn't come on, just buzzes.

Open the dryer door and slowly rotate the dryer drum in a counterclockwise (CCW) direction. Rotate the drum 2-3 revolutions and then shut the door and see if it will start. If it continues to just hum and not start could indicate a voltage issue, motor issue or a friction issue. Open the door again and locate the door switch plunger in the upper or lower corner on the hinge side of the drum opening. Hold the plunger in while someone begins rotating the drum counterclockwise. While turning the drum counter clockwise and holding the door switch plunger inwards press the start button. If it starts, there is likely a friction problem or motor problem.
What is the model number?

My dryer is not working and only making a buzzing noise when i press the start button

is the buzz more like a growl? if so, you probably have a bad motor. if it is truly a buzz, then try turing your timer to a different cycle. if the problem continues, replace the timer

Hi,
This could be one of several things.
1.thermal fuse is blown(with power off(unplugged)check for continuity)
2.Belt is broken (check belt).
3.loose wire somewhere
4.Door switch malfuntion push in on it and and test for continuity.
5.The control board is malfunctioning.Try removing it and observe the back of it for burnt or cracked places.
6.Motor is bad test for power to motor see wiring diagram and tech sheet inside cabinet.

Input full model # here for parts and diagrams. Model # should be located just inside of door.

My hoover maxi 6 reverse air tumble drier has no hot air when drying. the filter care light is on. what does this mean?

The thermal overload has failed. Replace the heater assembly on the rear of the drier, under the metal cover.

Hoover TV30 tumble dryer belt gone..how do I access the belt area? I cannot slide the top off!

On models that do not have disengageing clips for the top to be removed, you must remove the front (face panel) and this is usually done by 2 small screws at the bottom of the front panel. Then you tilt the front out and will be able to unhook the front from the top. Now, you need to undo a small bolt or screw inside between the top and the side panel (there is one on each side). Hoover Maxi 6 TC50 Tumble Dryer making squealing noise

Have you fixed this problem? I also have a Hoover condenser dryer, only a few months old, and has started to make a squeal/whistle. I'm thinking it might be the front fan needing some WD40, OR too much water vapour around the belt that moves the drum causing the sounds.

If it's the fan, lubricating the shaft and its components should fix the problem, if a wet fan then I'd think maybe fully cleaning the condenser filter, reservoir ect will fix the problem.

The problem seems to go away though "mostly" 15 or so minutes after you start the dryer, so that makes me think ones it gets warm something is expanding to allow more "give" so maybe the belt.

Dryer makes a buzzing noise when I push the start switch.

Sounds like a bad motor, The buzzing noise is probably the motor humming then nothing because the thermal over load switch inside the motor opened. Timer will still be energized. Good Luck
