How did you hook up XM with a 7100. All manuals say that the terk stuff is not compatible and I have tried direct and direct 2 with no luck. I have been struggling to get XM on this unit.
I just attempted to hook up a GXM-30 to my DNX-7100 and was informed by the XM people when I went to register it that the GXM-30 would not provide radio audio with this unit. I went ahead and registered the GXM-30 and they were absolutely correct, it tunes to the channels, but I have no audio. Unfortunately between Garmin, Kenwood, and XM I have yet to speak to a single person who seems to have even the slightest clue as to what may be the problem, but they all have been highly proficient at blaming each other. I probably have betwwen 6-8 hours tied up on the phone mostly on hold between the three. I truly would appreciate any help on this as I am tired of pulling the radio in and out of the dash.

Re: dnx-7100 and XM
To turn on the function, you have to go to the "settings" menu -->
AV Interface Setup. On the top right corner of the screen you need to
switch to the 3rd page. The last option is "Navigation Source", turn
it on. Let me know if that helps, Lee

U need to order the Terk XMD1000 Direct XM Tuner Box. Its Search on the internet for it.I bought mine on xmradio.com. Cost is 49.99. Its comes with the antenna and box. Your XM radio code is on the box. Go aline and setup an account with SiruisXM and its going to ask for that code. once you do that. Ensure you are not under any cover to get a good signal and it will tell you to go to a certain channel. Then you will be pulled in. if you have any issue contact me at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org. I will walk you through. Good luck.
What type of car is it? Make sure the Black (Ground) lead for the radio is connected to an adequate ground wire in the harness or to chassis metal. Some vehicles (Nissan, Mitsubishi) have no ground lead in their harnesses and need to be grounded to bare metal.
In your install manual, it'll tell you which wire in the harness of the DVD player is the e-brake wire. Simply run that to any screw under the dash that is screwed into metal framework. If it is in the plastic parts of the dash, it won't work. Find a screw that threads into metal, put a ring terminal on the wire, put the screw/bolt through it, and tighten it down, and you're done.
If it is shutting off and coming right back on I would defintley take another look at your ground connection. This is the most likley cause for the sudden turn offs. Especially if it comes right back on.
Call these guys at hifiaudio.com and purchase the SWC module that matches your vehicle (ask for Scroche brand). Once you purchase the SWC module, make sure you read the installation instructions two or three times before you install it. Once installed, these SWC units work great. I just completed the installation on my 2008 F150 with the Kenwood DNX-7100 and my steering wheel interface works perfectly.
In order to access the DNX7100's bulit in SD card slot, you have to press the CD/DVD eject button for about 5 secs. It will fold down to reveal the SD slot. This slot is only used for Software and Map updates via a SD Card.
