My Lexmark Z2300 is giving me an error msg that the cartridge is in compatible. The cartridge is actually a Lexmark 14. Once I took the cartridge out and powered off, then powered back on and added th

were they 'refilled' cartridges ? Lexmarks are sensitive to that...they have a chip in their tanks that you have to change/reset....you can't just refill them with ink.

Just make sure you are inserting genuine Lexmark cartridges. Lexmark does not recommend the use of refilled, remanufactured or clone cartridges, you might not get the print quality you expect from ink that is specially formulated by Lexmark.

Try cleaning the cartridge nozzles using the Lexmark software installed on your computer instead:
1. On your computer, go to Start menu.2. Go to Programs.3. Go to Lexmark 2600 Series folder.4. Select Lexmark Solution Center.5. From the Maintenance tab, select Clean to fix horizontal streaks. Your printer will then print a page forcing ink through the cartridge nozzles and clean it from dirt and possible clogs.
If that doesn't help but you're using genuine Lexmark supplies, please contact Lexmark Technical Support for additional assistance, otherwise, please replace your color cartridge with a genuine one.

Just replaced ink cartriges in printer and followed instructions but still saying i have an alignment problem

Make sure you are inserting genuine Lexmark cartridges. Please follow the steps below to fix the problem:

1. Make sure the printer is on.

2. Open the printer cover. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.

3. Remove both cartridges from the carrier.

4. Close the printer cover.

5. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it.

6. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first.

7. Close the printer cover and check for any errors.

8. If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge. Close the printer cover.

9. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear with a new cartridge. You could also try inserting a different known working cartridge to determine if the other is faulty.

I have placed new ink cartridges in and the status shows "?" by ink levels and I am unable to print

Be sure to use genuine Lexmark ink cartridges. You can try to reseat the cartridges and the printhead on the printer but if error persists, you may need to update your printer's firmware. You can easily download and install the update by visiting the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/s305fw. If more than one download is available for your printer, choose the first download in the list. If you encounter any problem downloading or installing the update, please contact Lexmark technical support for additional assistance. Thanks.

Printing with generic cartridges

Lexmark International does not recommend the use of third party inks or inkjet cartridge refill kits. Genuine Lexmark inks and cartridges are perfectly matched to the printing system. Using genuine Lexmark ink and cartridges ensures that every document produced is of the highest possible print quality, providing long-term dependable service from your Lexmark printer.

Lexmark cannot assure the excellent print quality and reliability of its inkjet cartridges after a cartridge has been refilled. Using incompatible inks in an attempt to extend the life of a genuine Lexmark cartridge beyond its recommended usage can cause failures in several different areas of the printer. Inkjet cartridges and printer failures caused by refilling or a third party ink are not covered by your Lexmark printer Warranty, Extended Warranty or Service Agreement.

Please use genuine Lexmark cartridges for best results.

Ink level reset button for Lexmark X2690

There really isn't. Lexmark's 'official answer' that I have seen is this:

Genuine Lexmark inks and cartridges are perfectly matched to the printing system to ensure that every document produced is of the highest possible print quality, providing long-term dependable service from your Lexmark printer. Using incompatible inks in an attempt to extend the life of a genuine Lexmark cartridge beyond its recommended usage can cause failures in several different areas of the printer. Any such damage to your printer caused by refilled ink cartridges will not be covered by your Lexmark printer Warranty, Extended Warranty or Service Agreement.

If the error message stopped you from using the refilled cartridges, you shouldn't have damaged the unit in any way.
