Re: Auto adjustment comes on every 5 seconds
Sometimes that can be caused by a loose or bad video cable causing the monitor to re-adjust for the video signal. You could try resetting the monitor by unplugging it for a few hours and re-plugging it again too. Also check with HP and see if they have any warranty, extended warranty, repair notice, free repair/ replacement.

dear you press the menu button for 5 seconds then your auto adjust option will be released and you want to lock it again then press again menu button for 5 seconds then auto adjust option will again locked.
Right click on your desktop, go to properties, and navigate to the settings tab. There, try to set the monitors resolution to the largest available. That should fix your problem.
If it doesn't just try some other resolutions until ou find one that works.
I hope this helps,
The first button is the E-power button for the Auto preset function. With it you can select presets like text, standard, graphics etc. depending on your use. When you select any button the options are displayed at the bottom of the window. These tell you what button to press to select the next option. For example press --menu-- > -- > -- menu , to adjust the horizontal and vertical position.
To turn off the monitor you must press and hold the --circle with the line -- button for a couple of seconds.
I had the same problem with my HP LCD. I'll turn on the monitor and it will run auto adjust and set everything to the max making the screen very bright. What I did was remove the button panel board and put it back. Everything works fine since then.
Hi, it might be that a sensor in the monitor is sensing change in ambient light and therefore reacts by auto adjusting the contrast. when you push auto, it will do just that and auto react. Why not try manual and set it to your desired setting and let it run that way.
But then again, of course it is possible that something is really wrong with the monitor and you would need a qualified service personnel to diagnose/repair it.
Hope this be of some help and pls post again how things turn up. Kind regards.
