Hi diamonddan11

I have given you direct instructions as to where the fuse is on your original post. The fuse is located inside the unit on the same printed circuit board as the mains power socket, right beside the main power switch.

Replace fuses properly? i bought fast acting replacement fuse and sparked a light 2 seconds after powering up. why?/fast acting fuse? Or?

If you put the new fuse in the same way/place the old one was, then that is a non issue.
Assuming that you are replacing with the fuse they spec, fast acting/slow blow and the correct amperage/voltage..then losing a fuse that quickly indicates somethings failed inside, shorted to ground.
That would either be repair or replace the unit.

So remove the burned out fuse, look at it carefully for the size markings, and bring it along with you when you go shopping for a replacement. But know this: a blown fuse is usually a SYMPTOM, not the PROBLEM. The fuse is there to protect the rest of the circuitry, usually the power supply, wherein the real problem lies. So, if you replace the fuse and it blows again, you've got a much bigger, more expensive problem. Be prepared to pay as much or more to a repair shop than the unit is worth. Be prepared to have a repair shop charge you at least $50 just to diagnose the bigger problem. If you are really lucky, your blown fuse is the result of a power surge (so it did its job or protection). Buy two fuses. Consider junking the unit if the second replacement fuse blows.

Have a nearly 30-year old Akai stereo receiver AA-R30. Power light just stopped turning on. Opened up case and found main fuse between AC power cord and power transformer blown. When I replace the fuse,...

Look for shorted output transistors or possibly shorted rectifier diodes. An immediate fuse blowing up usually means that the power supply is the problem. Keep us posted.
