Hatachi 42inch hd projection whole left side has shadow effect blue and red 3d images without 3d glasses

Thats a convergence failure and will require installing a convergence repair kit. You can get convergence repair kits for Hitachi models at www.tvrepairworld.com they come with the ICs low ohm resistors and the CD with repair instructions.

I have a tz61v61 toshiba rear projection. The bottom half of the screeen is ghosting red, blue and green. it looks like 3d without the glasses. top half of screen is fine.

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

Picture looks like 3D without 3D glasses on???

The cost I don't know, but this can be fixed. I'd say shop around a bit. Make sure the repair person is certified for your TV's manufacturer. There are generally 3 lamps in projection T.V.'s, Red, Green, and Blue. They have to be aligned for the TV to project a clear picture. A credible TV repairman should be able to fix it. Depending on if it's new enough to be under warranty they may cover it as well. Really the only reason to get rid of it is if you want to get a new TV anyway. Depends on the cost of having the lamps aligned.

Convergence Problem

sounds like 1 of the convergence chips are gone theres 2 of them and better off replacing both as the other would just go a month down the line there might also be a resister or 2 gone, the price for that kind of job is around 150 +vat.

hope this helps
