Headphone jack is broken INSIDE the port and is overriding the speakers. Can I override this override?

Or instead of having to open up your computer and messing with the mobo. Just use the control panel in to disable the headphone jack.

Pc headphone volume driver

3 Ports on the side- Pink,Green,Black
Pink Port is LineIn for an external device player jack

Green Port is LineIn for the Microphone jack
Black Port is LineOut for Headset or External Speakers jack

Plug the Green jack on Headphone - into the Black Port on the laptop.
b) Go to Control Panel and open - RealTek HD Audio manager
On the top of Page are 3 Icons -

One Icon is labelled Speakers One is for Digital optics, one is for Mic,
The Speakers Icon is misleading as it is also for Headphones (LineOut)

Select Speaker Icon and make it Default. Also tick Full Range - Front LR
Ignore the 4 vertical Analog Icons on the right side.

You should now have Headphone sound if your volume is not Muted.

Click start control panel on the left select hardware and sound then select manage audio devices then recording you should see a microphone right click select enable windows 7

Click start control panel on the left select hardware and sound then select manage audio devices then recording you should see a microphone right click select configure speech recognition then you will see earphones with a speaker among a list set up a microphone headset with microphone then next and next again you should see your earphones with microphone being configured Click start control panel sounds and audio devices select advanced there might be a tick in the mute box untick it or select audio from the microphone drop down list make sure you have the right one selected and in the volume box make sure the microphone box has a tick in it or select the voice tab make sure that you have the right media selected also select volume make sure the box for microphone has a tick in it or you might have to depending on your operating system
Click start Control Pannel
Click on Hardware and Sound

Click on Sound
then you devices should come up ; speakers, Digital Audio, and headphones

plug your headphones in
then select headphones

at the bottom it will say set as default
select that!!

then when you disconnect your headphones it automatically switches to the speakers and when you plug them back in it automatically will switch to headphones

Front inputs? (green and pink not working)

I thought the front was for a microphone and headset. I don't think those are speaker jacks. Look closely at the icon that is next to the pink and green on the front, does it show the icon of a microphone and headset?

Normally the speaker jack will show and arrow going out which means sound going out. If you look at the speaker port in the back of the computer it is normally the light green port. Notice the icon on it. Does the icon on the front look the same as the one on the back? Is the color on the front the same as the one on the back? I think you're plugging into the wrong port.

Make sure you have the volume up in your Audio/Sound properties and make sure you don't have the speakers on mute. Also make sure you turn the speakers on and turn the volume up on them.

Logitech microphone

have you checked the settings under control panel/sounds and audio devices?
open that up click the voice taband under voice recording press the volume button, check to see if the check box has a tick in it under microphone and that the volume is turned up. try the test hardware button to test your mic and adjust the levels from within the wizard.

hope this gets you headed in the right direction

No sound when i plug in head phones into headset jack, but when head phones are not pluged in i get sound from computers speckers.

Hi jasonbutera,

Follow these troubleshooting steps:

1) plug in your head phones into another headset jack in another computer or port - this verifies whether the head phones are good or not.

If the head phones are good, then we know the sound ports are not good. If the sound ports reseatable than give it a try. If the is an integrated sound port, than there is really nothing you can do other than replace the system board. If your pc is under warranty, by all means take it back to be repaired.

Hope this helps and good luck.
