A computer hanging when it has boot could possibly be associated with: -
1. Processor Overheating
2. Corrupt Operating System.
3. Corrupt RAM

Recommendation.
On the first instance, when the computer is booting, if you can switch to the BIOS setup and check the system health, you could find that the temperature could be more than 60 degrees celcius.
To solv this, ensure that the cooling fan is sitted properly on the processor.
Ensure there is no dust on the fan as this could slow down the rpm(revolutions per minute) or try changing another fan.

As for the operating system, you can trying loading or repairing the existing operating system using the right source.

In some cases where RAM is corrupt, trying using another chip to be sure if the problem is being caused by this.

Good luck.

Desktop hangs at "verifying dmi pool data"

Hello here is the MSI homepage:

http://www.msi.com/product/mb/P4M900M2-L.html#/?div=Driver&os=Win7%2064

Here is an overwiev of the problem:

http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000474.htm

Try to go into your BIOS and make sure that the harddrive with the Windows installed is correctly set as the primary boot device. Choose the HDD as primary boot device, followed by CD-ROM/Floppy. Also make sure that the HDD is set to auto-detect within the BIOS utility.

If you have any discs or diskettes in the CD-ROM or floppy drive(s) then please remove these and try and boot up again, this is to make sure the system is not trying to boot from another device.

Make sure ALL cables are 100% connected to the system and are not loose at any scale. If any of the above does not work then try and reset the CMOS using the CMOS jumper.

If still nothing above fixes the issue then you may have to replace/fix the master boot record on the harddrive, or renew the harddrive as this may be the cause of the problem.

Good luck

When i turned my desktop computer on it started up fine at first, but then it said verifing DMI pool data and below that it said boot from CD and I don't know what the problem is or how to fix it

Check if the CD is inserted or not if inserted take it out and reboot and if it still occurs go to the boot menu and in boot priorty set HDD first and save and restart.

Verifying DMI pool data

Possible main memory fault; swap memory modules if you have more than one installed. Otherwise, clear the CMOS contents in the Bios and re-configure. ( remove the coin battery and short circuit the battery socket contacts then re-install the battery )

1. This means that Windows does not recognize the device.
Unplug the DMI unit and shut down Windows 7 then restart.
2. Check the connection to the PC.
3. Your cable may not be sending the right signals to the PC
4. Check the Compatibility of the unit you are trying to connect to the PC with the Windows7 Compatibility troubleshooting tools built into Windows 7 .

Soltek Motherboard w/- Award Modular Bios v6.00PG

i the hard disk is making any noise while booting this is called as catastrophic failure .......

often this happens when the hard disk life span is over ...

just have a check with this ...

or check is there is any other device which is not connected properly inside ...
just for an example :
if you have connected 2 harddisk or 2 cd/dvd roms then you need to configure the jumper correctly for the master and slave if you have not configured correctly then also the boot up will take a long time or it will hang ...

so just have the check with this ....

and also check by going to BIOS setup (you can enter the bios setup by pressing " F2" or "delete" key during the time of booting before the OS loads....)
and also check in the BIOS does the harddisk drive or the cd/dvd drive are detected or not ....
if it is not detected then remove the IDE bus from the particlular device and then reinsert it ....
this will solve you problem ...

any doubts you can reply me
i am always here to assist you
thank you
bye
rate my solution
