How can I repair a Honeywell VR8200C 24 Vac Dual Standing Pilot gas valve. I'm trying to find out what went wrong in the gas valve that does not light the pilot. Does anyone have a clue as to where to start looking. I took it apart but can't find anything unusual.

I have a very old Honeywell thermostat. I am not getting any heat-how do I check to see if thermostat is working.

Is your pilot lit? if not the the gas valve will not open. Call for heat, check wires at gas valve, should be around 24 VAC.

Adjust pilot light v800a 1070

first try disasembling the pilot orfice and clean with blast of carb or brake cleaner( out doors only away from flame).. the hole is very small and gets plugged by rust in the pipe system..if overall pressure is low there is a cap screw to remove and tightening the regulator screw down increases the pressure..this should be done by a professional with a pressure gauge on the manafold..

Does this valve have a standing pilot? if not, if my hot surface ignitor lights up and the furnace fails to light would you consider it to be a faulty gas valve? I am getting a constant 24 volts fro

If your getting 24 Volts to the gas Valve and the gas Valve is not opening replace your gas valve If your not getting a full 24 volts check your Transformer and the ground to the gas valve. If the gas valve still does not open change the Gas valve.

When the heat cycle calls for gas there is no ignition is my gas valve bad?

I don't know what kind of furnace you have. But most furnaces have some sort of pilot first than after it is proven than the main gas will come on. Either a standing Pilot with a thermocouple. A hot surface ignition or Spark ignition with a flame sensor. Or a direct fire system where hot surface or spark ignitor start first than all the burners send a 1 sec blast of gas which is proven by the flame sensor if it proves the gas valve stays on.....
In what you have said you have 24 volts to the gas valve and it has not lite. then does the gas valve have a pilot tube???Does it have a thermocouple?? Do you smell gas?? If you don't smell gas then the main part of the valve has not opened. The Pilot valve has to open first and prove before the main gas will come on. I hope this helps. If you still need help repost with the name and model # of the furnace.

Smell gas from one of the burners when stove is not in use

If standing pilot, make sure the pilot is lit. If not standing pilot, the gas valve is leaking (it is attached to the knob and shaft you hold to turn).
Replace the burner valve. Be sure to indicate which one, eg., Left front, right front LF, RF,..

Heater does not maintain room temperature; pilot light does not always light

Hello
You may have a bad thermocouple if you have a standing pilot light.
A standing pilot light is always lit,the thermocouple feels the heat and opens the gas valve, giving a full flow of gas to the heater to burn.

Thermo couple is a small copper tube located near the pilot light running back to the gas valve.

Next you may have a auto ignitor may be made out of ballast or look similar to a spark plug, this supplie a spark to the gasflow lighting it to burn for heat.

one of these is malfuntioning, and im assuming this is why you can not maintain room temp.
Hope this was helpful
