My CD player will not work on my stereo system and I am looking for a local repair shop where I can take it to be serviced and repaired

Presuming that other sources work okay and the the cables are connected correctly.....Try a CD Lens cleaner.

If that doesn't work then it's time to open up the unit and manually clean the laser lens. If that still doesn't work then the laser might be dead. Replacement parts may be available. Whether or not you can do this as a DIY repair though is questionable. It depends on your skill..

I own an Pioneer CD tuner XC-L11 with a stereo power amplifier M-L11. Recently it won't switch on with the standby button flashing red. After consistent attempts to put it on, it works but when put off and...

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as a root cause for intermittent shutdown.

LG dvd drive is missing from MY COMPUTER folder. Pliz help me.

When you push the open/close button, does the tray open/close? Do any lamps light-up?
Any noises? If not, there's no electrical power reaching the device.

Turn your desktop computer off.
Disconnect the power-cable.
Remove the side-panel, to expose the "back" of the LG drive.
Check that the "data" and "power" cables are correctly connected to the drive,
and that the other end of the "data" cable is correctly connected to the motherboard.

Or, spend $40 to purchase a new CD/DVD reader/writer, to replace your "dead" device.

On the first board (where the power enters) there is a tall 3 pronged switch, if you turn the board over and solder a piece of wire to the 2 outside prongs, you will find that the Amp works normally apart from that the display reads Cd closed when in Cd mode.

Auxillary option not available in menu

Try putting the unit in standby via the "SRC" button FIRST..., then press the menu button and cycle through to the "AUX 1" option and activate this....then press menu button again. When the unit is next switched on, you should have an "AUX" option accessible via the "SRC" button which will cycle through all of the availale modes ....standby-tuner-cd-aux etc etc.
