Question about HP Printers & Copiers

1 Answer

I have an hp officejet 6100. It had been working properly. We went on vacation for about a month and since I returned every time I try to print something it can take up to 1 hour to print i page. I have cleaned the printer heads and also reset to factory settings and nothing has helped!

I am sure that problem is not on the printer. it could be viruses. upgrade your virus scanner.

How can I make my 6100 printer print only in black ink?

The advanced printer options of grey scale or reverse print in windows systems should work. May also be able to set the printer itself to one of those options in the menu.
You can also take the document and put it in Word and highlight everything and change the color to font black but pictures would not be affected.
If you are already out of colored ink it may not print at all no matter what you try. There is very cheap (generic) ink you can get at amazon or ebay

How do i disable wifi on hp officejet 6100 printer

Everyone else is ignoring this guys question, simply because they wireless printing is so wonderful. Well let me tell you if you got unlimited internet and can pay for it every month, it is wonderful. However the HP 6100 has a nasty habit of getting online to update. It updates so much it can take 4G you pay $40 for every month and eat it up in one day. It's a wi-fi hog! So if you can barely pay for internet every month, it will clean you out of Gig very quickly. It can be a "White Elephant" for anyone with minimal internet. It's better not to use the Wireless feature at all!

I later replaced it with a Cannon printer that didn't have WiFi and saved my internet Gigs. It also didn't help at the time the cartridges were so much more expensive than my old HP Printer. That will the last HP Printer I will buy.

What I did in the mean time, is I took Aluminum Foil and glued it to the outside of the HP6100. It effectively took the HP6100 offline because it couldn't detect the internet through the foil. It works much the same concept as an Aluminum Wallet, except you are trying to keep it from detecting the WiFi signals out. Make sure you leave it where you can access the buttons, what I did was make a flap I lifted up to operate the buttons, then put the flap back down when ever I was done pressing the buttons to keep it off the WiFi. This is the only thing that works. It tried turning the WiFi on my Huawei modem off, but the wireless kept mysteriously coming back on when ever that printer was on.

Not printing

When printing from the microsoft word document, make sure the printer selected is right. By that, i mean the default printer selected in the printers icon under the control panel should be HP OfficeJet 6100 series and not HP OfficeJet 6100 fax.
So the reason why this message comes up " scanner failure ". is you are either selecting a wrong printer when printing from microsoft word document or probably the printer port is not selected right.

To check the printer port.
Click on start-->control panel-->printer & faxes-->right click on HP OfficeJet 6100 series--> select properties-->Select the top tab called ports-->
Check the ports selected here.
If you have a USB connected printer it should be your printer model with USB settings.
If you have a wireless connected printer it should be your printer model with wireless settings like IP address.

Printer only won't print in black

My printer did that a few months ago. I tried everything to get it printing black but in the end I had to take the ink cartridge back and return a new one. Some ink cartridges dry out when they are being shipped if not stored in proper conditions.

Officejet J5780 Every time I turn printer on I get error reading to align cartridge. Tried several cart. and get same reading

One "reset the printer" solution says:

1. unplug power cord
2. wait 30 seconds
3. hold down "#" key AND "6" key, plug in power cord and turn on

this theoretically should clear it. i had a similar problem with an HP 6100 multifunction, and the "reset" steps with that were similar (different keys) and worked.

Hp 6210 fails alignment

Major cleaning. Ink heads xtra dirty. Must contact HP instant chat and they will walk you through the rest of it. Not knowing how to fix this one even though Im a tech I wouldnt have known to do what they did.
Lots of powering up and down and I think the "6" was the way they had me "reboot" the printer.
