I am currently having the same Issue with my 2 sided Kenmore refrigerator, where the freezer side freezes and when the refrigerator cools down because the freezer side freezes over. So I do the following to correct the issue until it freezes up aging. I get a blow dryer and blows dry the freezer side and then it starts to work aging. I would like to correct this issue once and for all.

    Thanks

    Mitch

HI,GOOD JOB CLEANING THE COILS IT HELPS ALOT,MOST TIMES IF YOUR FREEZER SIDE IS FREEZING UP THERE ARE 5 THINGS TO CHECK,WHAT MAKE,MOST GE HEARTERS GO BAD FIRST,EASTEST TO CHECK FIRST IS THE FAN,OPEN FREEZER DOOR,IS THE FAN RUNNING,SOME MODELS YOU WILL HAVE TO HOLD THE FREEZER BUTTON DOWN FIRST,MOST ON INSIDE TOP,NEXT REMOVE FREEZER BACK PANEL WALL,IF YOU SEE A SHEET OF ICE,YOUR DEFROST HEATER(ON BOTTOM OR SIDE) AND THE HEATER TERMANATOR(LITTLE ROUND CLIP ON BALL WILL HAVE TO BE CHECKED WITH A OMES METER,YOU CAN DEFROST IT WITH A HAIR DRYER,WHEN DEFROSTED YOU CAN SEE IF THE DRAIN(MIDDLE BOTTOM OF FREEZER IS CLOGGED,LAST DEFROST TIMER(TOP FRONT,BACK BOTTOM,INSIDE FRIG.TURN CLOCKWISE SLOW TILL YOU HEAR A CLICK,SEE IF FREEZER FAN WENT OFF,WAIT 25 MINUTES,SEE IF FAN COMES BACK ON IF SO IT'S NOT THE TIMER,LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU FIND AND I WILL HELP YOU FARTHER-MIKE

Crisper drawers are feezing vegetables.

look down at the bottom crisper and there should be an air control that lets more or less air in from the freezer section. close this control down so that most of the air stays in the freezer. some models may say meats(colder) and vegetables(warmer).

some models the control in the down position opens up the vent more allowing it to get colder and in the up position closes the vent down more allowing less cold air into the refrigerator. you can remove the crisper and experiment with the control.

FREEZING REFRIGERATOR

Hello Pam, Welcome to FixYa. In actuallity most fridges whether they are side by side, conventional top mount, or bottom mount, the control for the fridge section is nothing more than a damper which allows or prevents air flow through the fridge section. The thermostat which control the "run time" or actual temperature is the freezer control. It is possible to set the fridge control at "1" and yet still have items feeze because the freezer control is set to "3", "5", or higher. Try adjusting the freezer control to a lower number as well and see what that yields. You may also want to vacuum out your condensor coils under the unit...( unplugging the power cord first of course ;) safety first ) this too can cause items to freeze in the fridge section. Without getting too deep into how it all works I'll just say it effects the entire system negatively. Hope you find this an acceptable solution and can take a moment to rate it accordingly. Thank you for visiting FixYa and please let me know if you require further assistance. macmarkus :)

Vegetables kept out of the crisper drawer feeze up why does this happen even the temperature control is set below 1 on the dial

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

The ice maker doesn't work. I can get cold water from the refrigerator so I assume that the line is not frozen. I just changed the water filter to see if that might help but it didn't.

Check the folllowing:

The end of the ice chute inside the freezer compartment that dumps into the ice tray - they can feeze and block water flow.

Remove the water chute and see if the water orifice is frozen. If so, it will block water flow. it can be thawed out with a hair dryer (carefully).

If no luck, look for a bad water valve or possible kink in the water line. This valve is usually located under the back of the fridge behind a cover.

If all ok, there could be an issue with the ice maker itself or on some units, a control circuit board.

Try unplugging the fridge, let it sit for at least 5 minutes and then plug it back in and see what happens.

Refrigerator is too cold.

Your thermostat may be starting to go. Or the sensor could be dirty. Locate the sensor, and make sure ther is no dirt, dus or anything on the sensor. Also, if the fridge is kept to full it can cause feezing.

If it's to full, air flow is reduced, and that can cause certain sections to get colder while the are around the temp sensor is sill warmer, making the fridge stay on. The thermostat "thinks" the fridge is ... say 38 degrees, when the bottom sections that have less ariflow are actually getting below 32 degrees.

FRIDGE DOES NOT COOL

Hi, Have you recently defrosted the fridge? with any type of sharp object?? If so you could have put a small hole in the evaporator plate which has caused the gas to leak out! Or if you have not then depending on its age there could be a small hole appeared outside the fridge in the condenser on the back and the gas has leaked. Or which does happen is the compressor has gone weak and will not pump the gas round the fridge hard enough to condense it and therefore it does not get cold..
If you can give me anymore information then i could tell you exactly the problem.
How long does the compressor run for and is it hot??

Candy CPCA250 GB Freezer feezing but fridge not cold

Hello jonnyclewlow
Welcome,

You said, you recently had a problem with my Candy fridge freezer (it defrosted overnight and wasnt cooling at all) and a repair shop diagnosed a thermostat problem. I have replaced the thermostat, Now the freezer freezes without any problems but the fridge does not go cold at all.
Also the compressor is running constantly

This is my first thought

Fresh Food temperature is
too warm. Freezer
temperature is satisfactory.

1. Fresh Food control is set too
warm.
2. Set fresh food control to a colder setting. Allow 24
hours for temperature to stabilize.

3.Then see if you do not have your freezer articles packed full up to the top, or covering the cold air vents usually found in the rear of the freezer compartment.

The fridge and the freezer share the cold air so the air must not be restricted from travel form the freezer to the fridge and back!
This would also cause the compressor to run none stop trying to cool the fridge!
So check your air vents in the freezer.
I'll bet you did not know they were there !
Most of us never notice!
Hope this works for you.
Please let me know that one of these solutions worked for you!
or if you have any questions.
Thank You, huuum
