Before jumping to the worst case scenario, try first to determine if fresh batteries will not solve the problem.

hi. you need to clear that error from service mode first.
press aditional function
press 2
press 8
press aditional function
when #sssw appear on the screen search with arrows in the touch panel until CLEAR appear on the screen
press ok once
and search with arrows until ENGINE appear on the screen
press ok once
ERRCLR appears on screen . press ok one more time
turn off the machine from main switch for a few seconds
turn on again and make copy test .
if problem persist replace the fixing heater.

LCD Back light

I shows your screen is not properly touching the contacts i think those contacts need to be cleaned with acetone available at maplin or pcb cleaner from philips the assemble again it solves prob coz that contact isnt giving signal to turn light off.

Hi. It doesn't sound good. You might have memory corruption. I would do a RAM clear and re-program it. Take one battery out (under batt cover next to paper roll) Turn key to REg mode. Turn off at wall for 10 minutes, then turn back on. After machine comes back on, put battery back in. See if that solves the problem. You will need to re-program the machine afterwards. Mark

What should be my first step, for fixing a P0740 code on a 2003 Honda Civic LX?

That code, P0740, is a torque converter clutch circuit malfunction, according to the published OBD2 fault codes. You may be able to clear the code by disconnecting the battery for an hour or so. I'd start by doing that, and then drive the car to see if the code comes back. Even if you don't have a code reader, if the car is driving strangely, and you clear the code with a disconnect of the battery, you can tell if it comes back when your check-engine light illuminates and the strange driving conditions return. Sometimes a momentary glitch in the car can trip a code, even if there isn't a real failure, and a reset will clear it for good. If you have a consistent code that returns, then it's time to dig deeper. See if disconnecting the battery for an hour or so clears the fault light and code, and if it comes back. If the disconnect doesn't clear it, you could have a shop clear the code with a scanner, and then see if it returns. Post up what happens and we can continue to figure out the problem.

I Also Had The Same Problem. Now I Fixed It. Go To Power In Settings. Click On The Advanced Tab. Uncheck The Box Which Says "Turn Off The Device If Not Used For" Box. This Will Solve The Problem. It Solved Mine. Thereafter Once, My Backlight Did Not Switch On. Fix This By Going Into Backlight Settings And Uncheck The Box Which Says "Turn Off The Backlight If Not Used For" Box. This Will Solve It. Then Soft Reset The Device To Change Settings. To Soft Reset, Find A Small Hole In The Left Hand Side Of The Device. Put Your Stylus In And PRESS ONLY ONCE. If You Keep It Pressed, Your Device Will Hard Reset. Don't Do That. Just Press ONCE.

Circuit board was damaged in electrical storm. Replaced with new board. Now, screen comes on full raster, but with retrace lines. Picture is very faded and barely visible behind lines. Sound is OK and...

I am unable to find in your statement about which brand or type of motherboard is used. One thing i come to know your using service mode kit. knowing in your statement your are a technical person. My simple idea is first you set the TV in standby mode using remote. Then in FBT reduce the screen control minimum position, the release standby. Now the tv is oscillated, now slightly increase screen control till get maximum video and zero retrace line set in position. Even no improvement give me clear picture of brand and microprocessor ic etc. there is a chances to solve by having the above details.
