My son's PS2 was dropped and now the disc drive won't close. I have tried to fix it but it obviously needs to be pulled apart. Is there someone in Bangalore where I can take the PS2 for repair?

The disc drive is stuck, you would have to take the playstaion apart, i assume this is ps2. you would have to take it apart, then remove the disc drive and take it apart to remove the disc. if you have warranty you might be able to get it repaired free.

Wont read the disc .my sony playstation 3 wont read any disc.

The PS3 has a special Recovery Menu, which you can access in the following way:
1. Turn off Playstation 3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION 3 System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION 3.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION 3 System

From the above select option "Rebuild Database". After PS3 has executed this DB rebuilding operation, the disc games will be visible again in the menu.

No picture for ps3,i went to service menunand did something wrong

You probaly turned hdmi on or off i dont know what your settings is,

you can turn your system settings back to factory default using the Safe Mode.

Step 1: Turn off the PLAYSTATION 3 by holding the Power button on the front of the unit till the Power light is red.

Step 2:
  1. Touch and hold the Power button, you will hear the first beep, meaning the PLAYSTATION 3 is powering on.
  2. Continue to hold the Power button and after about 5 seconds, you will hear a second beep, indicating the video reset.
  3. Continue to hold the Power button and after about another 5 seconds you will hear a third beep and the system will power off (Power light is red).

Step 3:
  1. Touch and hold the Power button, you will hear the first beep, again for the PLAYSTATION 3 to power on.
  2. Continue to hold the Power button and after about 5 seconds, you will hear a second beep for video reset.
  3. Continue to hold the Power button and after about another 5 seconds you will hear a quick double beep. At that point release the Power button. If you succeeded in activating Safe Mode, you will see a message on the screen saying, "Connect the controller using a USB cable and then press the PS button."
  4. Connect a USB cable to the controller and the PLAYSTATION 3 and press the PS button to enter Safe Mode.
  5. Then you will see the Safe Mode menu.

Step 4: We recommending performing the safe mode options in the following order until one of the options works for you. If one of the options work, do not continue onto the other options.
  1. Restore Default Settings
  2. Restore File System
  3. Rebuild Database
  4. Restore PS3 System

Wont play when i insert disks only the games on there

I had a similar problem. My PS3 did not start the disk based games. Those disk based games were not visible in the game menu.

I did not have problems with the normal movie DVDs or movie Blu Rays. Those were working fine. Also downloaded games were working ok.

In case you have the similar problem, you should try the following steps;

The PS3 has a special Recovery Menu, which you can access in the following way;:

• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION 3.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION 3 System

Select option "Rebuild Database".

After PS3 has executed the DB rebuilding operation, the disc games will be visible again in the menu and are starting automatically when inserted to PS3.

it sounds like the disk isnt locating when it slides onto the laser tray if you are ok taking it apart check nothing is blocking the laser tray if their is nothing blocking it check that the laser has retuned back to the middle of the tray if it hasnt then gently push it back and then put it back together. if this dont work you might need to buy new laser witch you can get off ebay they are easy to fit the wires only go into a snap conector try this this should solve your problem
