does the speedo n turn signals work?

1 Answer

I would check the obvious fuses and such. however, if your bike has the self reset circuit breakers, you might have one to go bad. they work on the bi-metal principle where current flows through a calibrated piece of spring steel and when it heats up, it deforms and opens a set of contacts and when it cools off it returns to shape and closes the contacts. these are available at auto parts stores at a faction of the cost from hd.

I placed a new battery to my activa bike on 13/05/16. After two days while the bike is in running, horn , indicator lights went off slowly. Then bike also went off from moving.

did you leave lights or key turned to on position or the battery didn't have a good charge when you parked it. Did you kick start the engine? Bike may need a tune-up.

Ignition switch on, bike runs, no running lights. Signals, horn, and brake light work.

If you think it might be the switch, you could squirt switch cleaner into the key slot and work it. Have you checked for fuses under the seat, tank or behind the headlight?

My bike worked fine when i went to start it nothing no headlight nothing. I have a 883 2000 sporster i have checked the plugs and bought new spark plug wires. i am a girl new to fixing bikes but will do my...

By "no headlight nothing" I take it no headlight, taillight, horn, as no power, right?

First, buy a MULTIMETER:

This will come in handy for many things, so it is a good investment!

Check your battery and see what (if any) charge it has.
If the battery is dead, this could be your problem.

If not, next up is check the fuses.
The multimeter helps here, as I have come across fuses that looked good (not burned through), but for some reason, they were bad.

Check the battery terminals. Are they tight? No "crud" growing on them?

Is the other end of the ground cable making good contact?

Audio, cruise controls and horn doesnt work on the steering wheel but air bag light hasnt come on...anyone know what the problem could be? I replaced the horn and fuse.

Sounds like something happened to the wiring harness in the column. The air bag circuit is in a different harness.

2007 fatboy lost the 'flashing' of turn signals (but they still light up), lost horn, lost rear break light. All fuses in the fusebox are OK. I also lost all gauges (speedo, neutral indicator,...

Your turn signals (but not your running lights), horn and a few other things are on the "accessories" fuse in your electrical circuit, I think. If the fuse is not blown, I would guess that you have a bad connection in the power lead for that circuit. I'm not sure of what I'm going to say here because I don't work on the newer bikes but in the older bikes, the "orange" colored wires carried the battery voltage to the individual components much like "red" wires used to do in most DC circuits. I'd look for a bad connection in a plug somewhere. I hope this helps but like I said, I don't know a lot about the newer bikes. I mostly work on the older bikes that the dealers will not work on any longer.

Good Luck

Well, motorbike horns are feeble to begin with but it should have an adjustment nut right in the front of it. While holding the horn button, adjust this nut either in or out, until the horn reaches it's maximum output.

Runnind lites are inop but turn signals work

There is a fuse for the lights. It's in a fuse box located either under the seat or behind the triangular plate on the left side of your bike. If it's not blown, take the lens off and check the bulbs for broken filaments. The running light wire is the blue wire in the turn signal units. You may have to trace this out to find the problem.

Electrical short, No headlight, no horn, no turn signals

may have burnt a wire inside the wiring loom, use multi meter to check each wire continuity, or perhaps jump a wire from + battery to the positive horn wire.
use a fuse on the jump wire in case of short.
If this work then definate break in loom
