How many miles on the car? I recommend hooking up a direct reading oil pressure guage. Oil level is not the only factor on oil pressure. As an engine ages, clearances and bearings wear and the pressure falls. Using too thin oil can result in low pressure.
Oil light coming on usually means low oil pressure. IE: low oil, pump worn and possibly the sending unit. Before buying a new oil pressure switch you can try cleaning it by removing sender and soak lower part (that screws into engine) in parts or carb cleaner. Sometimes they stick and get gummed up.
it is either the oil sending unit or the oil pump remove oil sending unit from the side of the block and do a manual pressure check should read atleast 30 psi if not the oil pump is bad if it does then sending unit is bad
