I have to say that's a problem I've seen fairly often with the Sony W320. My suggestion is to take out the battery and make sure it's fully charged then put it back in. If that doesn't work I'd contact Sony.
i had cyber shot w55 i too facing this problem the lens comes out automatically 3 times and again it says please turn off and on again ............
.......I SHOWED IT TO SERVICE CENTER HE TOLD ME LENS IS NOT WORKING
IT MITY BE LENS PROBLEM.......
HUMMMMMMMM it costs 4000 rs it costs high
so that i kept it alone with sweet picks that i have taken with my camera hmmmmmmuu
I had the same problem with my Sony DSC-W150 camera. It turned out to have an easy fix. At the same time, press the power button and depress the shutter button halfway (the one you snap to take pics) as if you were trying to engage the autofocus without pressing the button down entirely. The lens will attempt to autofucus, which in my case was enough extra power to dislodge whatever debris/sand had clogged the lens. Hope this works for you!
after looking at all issues on this problem online hundreds of people have had the same problem, the solution always suggested and sworn to work is to drop it!!! so after I kept reading and reading drop it, I did, about a foot away from the carpet and volia, it works again, I know crazy but my camera is working, give it a try.
Hey, my camera the dsc- w80 did the same thing. When I turned it on, the lens opened 3-4 times and then it said "turn the power off and on again".
When the lens opened an closed, I pulled on it with my fingers and twisted it. I kept doing that: Turned the camera on and off, kept pulling and twisting the lens and now my camera works again!
I fixed this issue with my Sony Cybershot by gently (carefully) hitting the camera 3 times against a carpeted bench with the lens retracted and the camera turned off. It seems the lens gears were stuck. Now the camera works fine again.
My camera is a Lumix DMC - LS70 and the same thing was happening to me, the camera kept telling me to turn it off which never solved the problem and the lens never closed when the camera turned off. What i did was, i zoomed out as i turned the camera on (while it was in a picture taking mode) and it corrected itself. Try it and see what happens.
