My camera screen is very, very dark. You cannot see anything in it...just a shade away from no working at all. The menu options do not display either. The camera takes pictures fine (using the old fashion view finder) and uploads fine. I have checked to be sure the display button is on, and it is. Any ideas as to why to screen won't work?

Camera turns on , lCD displays Canon image in color, then screen goes black with all menu items in white. When I want to take a picture no image displays on the screen. However, it will display color images in playback mode., What gives. I've reset everything to default and the problem persists...

Did you accidentally hit the "DISPLAY" button on the back of your camera? It manually turns the display on and off to save batteries.

I'd try replacing the battery first. It is common for a low power battery to not allow the camera's computer to read what it is supposed to do correctly. If the new fully charged battery doesn't fix it, I'd then contact customer service.

I can't see PREviews anymore on my Cannon Power Shot A560 of still pics I'm taking. I still have REviews and menus as well as it works fine during video (shooting & review). Is there a setting...

Yep, sounds like you just accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This turns the screen on and off to save batteries (you would then use the optical viewfinder in its place). To turn the screen back on, just press the DISP button one more time with the camera on.

Canon Powershot A560. Just recently everytime I turn on my camera I have to re-set the time and date. (which will only last while camera is on - otherwise defaults to all 0's). This becomes an issue...

Open your battery door. See this picture. Notice the little door saying CR1220? Pry it open with your fingernail. The enclosed CR1220 battery is the camera's "watch" battery for time and date. Sounds like it may be "time" for a replacement. Take the battery to your local drugstore to purchase a replacement. Don't know why, but drugstores seem to have this battery at a more reasonable price (~$3) than W-Mart or other retail store (~$7).

Stay in a bright place or room and then try to press the Disp button once twice or even thrice. By doing so u shd be able to notice the picture or the LCD's backlight turning on.

Your camera has the know issue of Stuck shutter, whichhappens after some time (weeks or months) thata camera is notused.

Unfortunately the repair of it requires a complete disassembly of the camera, including the lens, fix it, and then put back together everything.

Definitely requires th skills, tools and experience to do it, so it's recommended that a professional camera repair center is performing this type of repair.

If you look for a reliable and low cost repair service for it, you can look in ebay for such repair services.

Example, look for seller ID Great_items_2004 or with the keywords "Shutter black S2".

Best regards,

Power On problem

Try the simple stuff first. Install fresh batteries. Remove the memory card. If that doesn't fix the problem, it is time for warranty.
