How old is this charger?? might be time for a replacement, also im sure the battery is no longer good either

take the batter out see if the computer stay on and gets hot.

if it does still get hot check if the CPU fan or the fans are spinning, if not, the MOTHERBOARD could be shot.

check the fan make sure they are free moving, no dust.

HP Pavillion dv6500 Notebook. Power light coming on when connected up to charger but no charge going in.

I just fixed my friends dv6500
it had same probs as mentioned above

the probs i found : shorted schottky diode marked LG = smd10k45
                           shorted n-ch mosfet      marked 702 = 2N7002
                           defect smd cap
All these are placed just below the battery connector on mobo
see page 128 of service manual
replaced these smd's and laptop worked again

the damage was caused by overheating of the smd's
could be you have the replace other smd's surrounding these mentioned above
depends on how hot it was

hope this helps

How do you charge a Mini notebook PC HP 2133?

Hi Shuvz_miah-

Plug in the AC adapter connector into the right side of the computer with the other end connected to a cable that will be plugged into the wall outlet. Leave the computer connected until the battery is fully charged and the battery light turns off.

Hope that helps,

Take care

The socket where you plug the charger into the laptop is loose and now will not charge. where can i send it to be fixed and how much will it cost? I am in Niagara falls, ONtario

Hi
This is typically caused by tension on the plug. For instance, you allow the charger to dangle and hang on the plug. This causes poor contact and the socket gets hot and melts.
If you go to the manufacturers they will charge you for a new mainboard. Your best bet is to take it into a local TV/Hi-Fi repair shop and get a quote.

Bettter have it checked on the nearest service center if the unit is still under warranty. There might be a problem with your batteries based on our description (very hot).
