Question about Samsung Projection Televisions

TV screen went black

TV went black in middle of show. Could not bring back. Eventually, all 3 lights were blinking in front indicating lamp need replacement, which I did. Still having same problem. TV is 3 years old. In past, when turned on, screen would be a pinkish color and I would have to change the source and it would go to normal color. What more can I do?

How long is a picture tube supposed to last? Surely more than 3 years. Could it be anything else?

  • mikie1 Jun 21, 2008

What is a light or dip engine? I read that can go out with the lamp or on its own. Would it cause this screen problem?

I still am not sure what the problem is. There were several anwsers and all different. I will take it to a repair person. Thanks.

It seems your problem is in horizontal section, the horizontal output transistor is defected already, the horizontal produce high voltage,if this voltage is gone the picture is gone but power is there because light is there,,you better checked this or find a technician repair this problem to avoid high voltage shock ..this is not cost too much ,,only a transistor and little reheating on that section.....

Hi

It wont be a picture tube failing. Thats not been a problem in sets for 30 years. Just an urban myth that when the picture stops, the tube has gone!! dont heed that advice :) It is more likely to be a power supply fault, or something failed in a linear stage like the vertical or horizontal circuit. These sorts of repairs should really be done by a qualified service tech. There are dangerous voltages in the back of a TV, that without proper training, you may hurt, or worse kill yourself if you get into attempting a repair.I suggest getting a quote for repairs, and if the repairs cost is more than half the replacement cost, then go for there placement set.
I am more than happy to answer any other questions you may have about it, just give me a hoy :) If you are still unsure, or have problems, then before you give a rating for this advice, please get back to me and we can try some more things.
Thanks for using FixYa, If you consider the advice I have given you as sound, a FixYa rating is a great reward for my efforts to help you. Cheers.

There are more problems posted with samsungs then any other television at least that I have seen. It sounds like it will need to be serviced. It depends on your expertise. If you know enough about electronics and circuit boards then maybe. I would not recommend it but it is possible and I could find you the service manual.
Keep me posted,
Lee

This is not a tube tv. This is a projection tv it a much newer technology. These samsungs regularly go out between 2-3 years. I recommend Hitachi as they are the best, then sony, and panasonic. I can assist you further if you need anything.
    Thanks,
    Lee

I think the picture tube should be replace for this unit base from what you have said, so better bring this unit to a reapir center near you and let a professionale check it for your safety also.

Hope that helps...............
