Question about Mitsubishi VS-50607 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Lose picture I lose the picture from time to time, no particular pattern to it. Sound is fine. Sounds like a small fix but have no idea what it could be and don't want to get ripped by a repairman. What do you think it is? suecue

Hi,Yes your problem sounds like the DMD board.This is how it works: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp1.htm Basically the light of the lamp goes through a tunnel that carries a color wheel(rotating disc with a gamma of colors that creates the colors on your tv)then the light of the lamp goes through the DMD board which is a chip composed of around 2 million pixels that creates the images and colors.When it starts to fail it will create black bars,pixelation,color distortion or white dots on screens. Here's a video that will help you find where the DMd chip is located : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jr_9A5Xd2Q Have a blessed one!

INTERMITTENT PICTURE AND SOUND

You were told correctly, you have a bad lamp. When the lamp gets old, the reflector becomes cloudy and instead of reflecting the light, it converts it into heat. As the lamp heats, it draws more power, eventually too much power and the set "recycles" because the lamp is drawing too much power. Replace the lamp, use an original Sony lamp as the aftermarket replacements are known troublemakers. If the bulb fixes the problem (and I know it will because I fix these TV's everyday) be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!

Sounds to me that the menu is in convergence adjustment mode. Try the menu key on the remote and follow the prompts.

there is a possibility that you have switched the RCA cables for the right port, the color patterns happen if your plug the component RCA ( Y Pb Pr) on a diff port. their usually color coded so please double check that to.

Sound but no picture

Good Day, gary;
It sounds like the TV has a bad formatter board. This board is not available from the factory, it must be repaired. Tile or block pattern with no video or OSD. Check D8F00 and D8F01 part # 264P828010, also check C8F26 and C8F29 part # 141P148000 (1 uFD, 25 V) on the FMT PCB (part # 930B924002). Remember FMT PCB is not available. Good Luck, Big Irish.

Scrambled picture

Which caps on which boards as that sounds like a issue with the signal and FMT PCB. The v26 chassis like yours has problems with bad caps on the DM, Signal, FMT and the PWB and terminal
