Printer works fine for months and then all of a sudden today,
I hit an icon to print something and this box with info in it comes
up and says:
There was an error when printing started. To check the printer setup,
double click the printers icon in windows control panel.
I finally found the windows control panel and clicked on the icon came up and had nothing to do with the problem. I checked the
connectionh and power cords...and checked for jammed paper. I called friend that knows about this stuff and he said to call you.

Did you make sure they were not expired when installed in the printer?
Still what i can suggest you to do is. Remove the cartridges clean the contact on the cartridges and also in the printer. And turn off the printer. Now turn on the printer and wait for the printer to show error for cartridges and now you can install them back and try,
This might not be a solution, but rather something to get your job done if nothing else (if it works):
Try using the "manual feed" tray instead of the paper tray. Depending on where the jam is occurring in the machine, it could bypass that spot and print fine.

First please press, start and go to run then type "control printers" in the text box. that should bring up you printer icons and click on you printer icon. A box should come up titled something like HP PhotoSmart PSC 2400 Series, go to the Printer menu and click on Printing Preferences..., go to the Effects tab and set "% of normal size" to 100 % of normal size!
