I have the same problem with my Nuvi 350. It's only about 2 months old and the sound went. I turned it on the other day to use it and the sound did not sound right, it sounded like the speaker was blown. I turned it off and turned it back on and that was it, the sound was gone. I did everything possible and can't get the sound to come back. I called Garmin and now I have to send it in for repair. I looked around the web and noticed that Garmins have big issues with the sound going on the units. I hope they fix that issue.
There is currently an Update (Vers 5.10) available at Garmin.com Check only the Nuvi 350 click on it and the Nuvi 350 will appear. In the Upper Right Corner you will see a Category of Updates. Click on it and you will be advised that you need to Download UpDater. Do so, uncompress it, then attach your Nuvi to your computer and run Update. It's simple, just follow the instructions on the screen. However, it sometimes take a couple of tries before the Nuvi actually accepts and shows that it has been updated to Vers 5.10 I guess I was lucky. Mine accepted the new update with the 2nd install but it sometimes takes 4 or more. If you are uncomfortable with the foregoing or it doesn't work for you contact Technical support at Garmin. They are really helpful and you can e-mail them at email@example.com
How old is the gps, if you answer is more than 2 years could mean you have a bad antenna, i would look into purchasing the extended antenna from the manufacturer if its not too expensive to test that theory.
