Question about Pioneer AVIC-S1 GPS Receiver

GPS disc now says "inappropriate disk inserted"

I have a AVIC N1 and all was great until all of a sudden my navigation disk is not working, movies play fine but I keep getting a message to insert the appropriate disk. I have already reset it and my install guy even disconnected it completely to see if that would fully reset it, I also got a disk cleaner but nothing has worked. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Reset your gps there's a reset button i believe on the bottom of it use a small paper clip to reset it. it should work and input your settings to the way you had it before

Disc would not of killed the entire unit, it may of clogged up the laser eye where it reads the disc. Use canned air or shop air and throughly blow out the unit. If problem persists contact Panasonic for replacement or repair.

You need to get an up to date navi disc. There is a procedure to down grade it, so it would read the yellow disc. But it will mess up the unit if you do it wrong. Beside half of the current info won't be on the yellow disc anyway, because it is so out dated. Goodluck.

Hi check your navigation disc for dust, dirt, damage.
if disc is good, you might like to try running a dvd cleaner in the unit, the avic has a fan that sucks in dust from the car, and this coates the cd lens.

we can service the unit for £45.00 plus return postage @ £10.00 (uk mainland)

If your error message is reading "insert appropriate disk" or "inappropriate disk inserted" than I have the solution. Can you just let me know exactly what the message is?

Pioneer avic n1 video by pass but now doesnt work when i upgraded w n3 disc

I am pretty sure that pioneer does this so you cant bypass it. The n1, you just have to ground the parking brake wire, the n2 you have to solder the 2 points together under the piece of tape, the n3 you have to move over the switch on the side of the unit. Which all of these void your warranty anyway but I think that is why people eventually downgrade the the old dvds.
