Question about RCA Lyra RD1072 MP3 Player

Mc5104b with Vista

I just purchased the mc5104b and when I went to install the cd a prompt came up telling me that because I'm not running on Windows XP (I'm running on Vista) that it can not install. My computer recognizes the removable drive but I have no idea how to install the drivers or even drag and drop files, as it won't let me in the main folder. There are various sub-folders which I have no idea what they are. I also do not have the manual and am finding it very difficult to find through RCA. Any suggestions would be a great help. Thank you.

I want window vista BUT I DONT KNOW HOW CAN I DO THIS

Hi there !

So tell me, what do you want to do with your computer? Do your computer crash and need to reinstall your Windows Vista operating system? Or you want to upgrade your operating system from Windows XP to Windows Vista.

For reinstalling Windows Vista, is it the same procedure when reinstalling Windows XP and Windows 7. Here is the link on how to reinstall operating system http://www.fixya.com/support/r7410371-reinstall_windows_xp_or_installing_clean. For Windows Vista, here is the procedure on how to reinstall Windows Vista.

1. Just put the installer CD into the CDROM Drive and open your computer
.
2. If message appear to press any key to boot from CD. Press any key to go to Windows Set up.

3. From there, just follow the installation procedure and put CD key if prompted and it will install itself the whole process. It will reboot for 3 times and don't press anykey when this happen. it will be finished within 20 mins.

For upgrading from Windows XP to Windows Vista, remember that all your files and softwares will be remove except for the hardware drivers. But not all the hardware drivers will be 100% working because upgrading the operating system will make your drivers outdated or not compatible with Windows Vista. If some drivers not working, just install the hardware drivers compatible with Windows Vista.

Here is the procedure.

1. Do not put the Windows Vista installer CD yet into the CDROM drive.

2. Open your computer and let it run to Windows XP program until is is finished to load your Windows settings.

3. Now insert your Windows Vista installer CD to the CDROM drive, it will pop up the upgrade installation wizard and just choose the upgrade installation. It will run the upgrading installation and just follow the instruction and it will be finish with 20 mins.

I hope this will help you and thank you for using FixYa !

I lost my vista product key . i havn't activate my windows. for that i need a new product key . please tell me how can i get a new vista product key?

Search online for the free PRODUKEY software.
Download it.
Unzip it.
Run it, to display the 25-character product-key that you used when you installed Vista.

Or, if you are in the "middle" of reinstalling Vista, and you are on the "activation" screen,
follow the online prompts, and use your credit-card to purchase a new license-key.

I want to reinstall my windows vista on my laptop do you have a solution for it please ?

Hi,
1.Insert the Vista installation disc into your laptop. Select "Run setup" from the dialog box that appears.

2.Select "Install now" from the installation screen. If Vista's User Account Control warnings pop-up, select "Allow" to proceed with the process.

3.Select "Go online to get the latest updates" when given the option. This will download the software updates that have been released since you purchased your copy of Vista.

4.Enter the product key when you are prompted. There should be a sticker on the underside of your laptop containing your product key; if not, it will be on the packaging for your Vista installation CD. After entering your product key, accept the End Use License Agreement.

5.Select "Custom" and select your C: drive as the installation destination and select "Next." You will be warned that a copy of Windows already exists on this drive; select OK." Select "Next" to begin the installation.

6.Enter an administrator name and leave password blank when prompted (after the computer has reset a few times). Your computer will then boot into your fresh Vista installation.

Code 80070246 how do i fix

To resolve this problem, replace the corrupted GlobalInstallOrder.xml file on the system with the same file from the Windows Vista installation media. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Obtain the WIM filter driver from the Windows Automated Installation Kit (Windows AIK). To download and install the Windows AIK, visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c7d4bc6d-15f3-4284-9123-679830d629f2&DisplayLang=en (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c7d4bc6d-15f3-4284-9123-679830d629f2&DisplayLang=en)
  2. Click Start, point to All Programs, click Microsoft Windows AIK, right-click Windows PE Tools Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

If you are prompted for an administrator password, type the password. If you are prompted to continue, click Continue.
  3. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER. MD c:\MountThis command creates a folder that is named Mount.
  4. Put the Windows Vista installation media in the CD or DVD drive.
  5. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: Imagex /mount DVDDriveLetter\sources\install.wim 1 \mount
  6. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: CD\mount\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.16386_none_07289f4cca5f6990This command moves to the source folder
  7. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: xcopy GlobalInstallOrder.xml %windir%\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.16386_none_07289f4cca5f6990This command copies the GlobalInstallOrder.xml file to the destination folder.

Spy Sweeper purchased in July, 2009 will not work with Windows 7.

Ms Mason,

With Windows 7 there comes an improved Compatibility feature which allows you to run programs apparently not functional in Windows 7. In order to do this, please install the program as usual, making sure to tell the installation program to install a desktop icon. When it is finished, right click on the icon and select properties. The next window has a tab called compatibility. Click this tab and select Run program in... and select Windows Vista or Windows XP SP3 (either should work). I would also set it to run as administrator. See graphic below.

If the program wont install at all, than explore the CD and do the same process with the "setup.exe" program on the CD.

Good Luck,

There is a DLL that isn't registered in Windows Vista that needs to be manually registered.
Click on your start menu button, go to programs, then accessories and right-click on Command Prompt and choose Run As Administrator.
If the prompt is already at c:\windows\system32 then type cd c:\windows\system32 and press enter.
Once you've done that you'll need to type the following exactly...

regsvr32 vbscript.dll

...and press enter. You should get a message that the DLL is registered. You can then close those screens and try installing again. Shouldn't have any problems.

I have just purchased an acer notebook lap top. will not accept a 12 mth old c4180 printer. it tells me in word vista you must have administrator rights to the conputor to install the printer. if you do...

Hi jmc66884,

Are you getting the user account control prompt? if your printer came in with the setup CD that is compatible with Vista just right click the setup.exe that you can browse inside the CD and choose run as administrator, I believe by trying that process your installation should progress.

hope this solve your printer installation problem.

How To Make Vista Bootable DVD with WIM Downloaded Files If you have purchased Windows Vista online and taken the delivery of the latest operating system via web download from Windows Marketplace, you would ends up with a few downloads with .wim and .exe file extensions. Rather than paying additional shipping and handling charges, you can burn or create a bootable ISO DVD image from downloaded Vista files with the following trick, where the .iso image can subsequently write to a DVD. The DVD created will be the typical 32-bit Windows Vista DVD that available in retail channel, and can be used to clean install.

How to make a bootable Windows Vista ISO DVD media

1. Put all 3 downloaded files (namely install.wim, boot.wim and an executable X13-49120.exe) in the same folder (for this tutorial, let’s assume the files are put on C:\ else you need to modify the path accordingly).
2. Run the X13-49120.exe executable. Windows Vista Setup Preparation will create a new folder “Vista” inside the folder and will populate the folder with all necessary Vista setup files which takes up about 2.52 GB disk space.
3. Exit from the Install Windows screen.
4. Download CDimage 2.52
5. Extract CDimage from CDimage.zip to the C:\ root directory.
6. Open a command prompt shell, and run the following command:

cdimage.exe -lVISTA_EN_DVD -m -u2 -bC:\Vista\boot\etfsboot.com C:\Vista\ C:\Vistax86.iso

Bootable Windows Vista x86 DVD ISO image in UDF format will be created as vistax86.iso in C:\ or any folder you specified above.
7. Burn the newly create ISO with a CD/DVD burning software such as Nero or Alcohol 120%. Try to burn at low speed (i.e. 4X) and turn on verification to ensure that the DVD creation is fine.

Create a Windows Vista ISO image and DVD with Oscdimg

Another possible way to create a bootable Vista ISO and DVD is by using Oscdimg CD-ROM and DVD-ROM Premastering Utility, available via WinPE (Windows Preinstallation Environment) via Business Desktop Deployment 2007 or Windows Automated Installation Kit (AIK)

1. Complete step 1 - 3 as above.
2. In the command prompt window, run the following command:

oscdimg -bC:\Vista\boot\etfsboot.com -h -u2 -m -lVISTA_EN_DVD C:\Vista\ C:\VistaDVD.iso

A VistaDVD.iso UDF DVD image will be created and can be used to boot the computer from DVD to install Vista.
3. Burn the ISO image file by using last step above.
