Question about Televison & Video

7 Answers

I have a Sony RDR-GX350 DVD recorder. I want to combine titles on the playlist according to the instructions on page 65 of the manufacturer's manual. The only problem is that the instructions only work up to a point. After step 2 (Select "Edit" and press ENTER), in Step 3, I am told to select "Combine" and press ENTER again. However I am not offered that option to select. Can you assist?

I've been trying to get assistance from Sony UK for weeks. Two weeks ago they promised to escalate my query and get back to me within 2 business days, but failed to so; then I rang again yesterday and was promised an email which never came; then I rang again today to be told, that the email had actually been sent earlier today but when it didn't arrive and I rang again giving a second email address I was told it would be re-sent to both addresses (i.e. both the 1st and 2nd) but it hasn't; and they're now closed till Monday...

  • seumas Jun 20, 2008

    It's brand new.

  • seumas Jun 20, 2008

I have no warranty. It was a gift... and, as I've indicated, I've spoken to the manufacturer's tech support team at length. One of them told me this unit can combine chapters--but not titles. My Sony manufacturer's manual, however, says it can do BOTH. (Pages 64 and 65.) I asked them to give me their point in writing by email so that I could refer them in writing to the manual. As you will see from an earlier posting, their promises to do that have not materialized.

  • seumas Jun 20, 2008

I'll try asking the person who gave it to me the address so I can take it back to the dealer, but I don't expect too much help from them if the manufacturer's Tech Support contradict their own manual...

  • seumas Jun 21, 2008

As I said earlier, I'll try asking the person who gave it to me the address so I can take it back to the dealer, so thanks for that suggestion all of you. It's now 01:03am in London so I'm off to bed, but if anyone has any other ideas, please keep sending them. I'll check in again later and I will acknowledge the first suggestion that works.

It's not a camera; it's a Sony RDR-DX350 DVD Player/Recorder hooked up to my TV. Sorry.

Hello seumas. Thanks for contacting us.
Please remember to have your DVD/R in stop mode before attempting to edit a title. I recommend following the steps for editing a playlist. A sub-menu should appear. Select, "Combine Titles". Then press enter. Please let us know if this does not work and we will look for alternate solutions.
Thanks again and good luck :)

Your problem is in programming and its comes out always error result,,maybe you cannot get the right set up and insist to enter ..and the programming failed to do so ,,just try this option go to menu setting, and default factory setting..this is best for this problem....

after you done the factory default setting,,reviews it clearly all the step by step you did it before . and if ever nothing happens ,,that the time you go to service center and this is not cost to much.

If you are looking at doing editing you might want to invest in a capture card and Adobe Premiere or another video editing software. You will have many more options. You can also sell the camera if its that new, and obviously technically has no problem according to sony. Then you could research a camera that has the features you want.
Let me know if you need any other assistance.
Thanks,
Lee

Those steps on the manual are really correct because I've tried that before with my friend that is also having this problem he just mis a step so I'm suggesting you to try doing the steps again and make sure you don't mis any steps on it, but if still doesn't really works I may say that there's really some problem with it and better have it check or replace by manufacturer.
Hope that helps..........

If its brand new and some features of it is really not working like now I really suggest you to demand a replacement for that.

  • Mark Gil
    Mark Gil Jun 20, 2008

Yes you're correct about that it really indicated on the manual so I'm really not sure why the tech support is telling you that it wont work, eve though its a gift there's still a way they can replace it since its still brand new I think you need to speak to a supervisor from them to have that concern be fix one in for all...

  • Mark Gil
    Mark Gil Jun 20, 2008

If that's the case better argue with them about the content of their manual why its stated there.... hopefully they will replace it.

Actually manual had explained all the instructions properly.but really there are no such options in the unit as ihad seen the unit.but its also written if any problem presists contact service provider of your particular model for free assistance if the unit is in warranty .so why dont you try these option .just call the dealer of your product and know all the functions properly.if the unit not in the warranty, the local electronic shop can definately help you to just know the functions.still before trying all that remove all the wires from your unit.follow the instruction as per the manual one more time very slowly and carefully.
feel free 4 further assistance .rate the particular experts solution as fixya that helps u understand n solve ur problem

Hi,
It's very likely user manual was written to a spec - that was later changed.

Try the options you are given in turn and see the results.

If you don't get a fix, it's a programming error you can't fix yourself, so it's back to the manufacturer for that one I'm afraid.

I lost DVD Sony RDR-HXD 870 insructions. Could you possibly send it to me electronically?

Hi here is a link to Sony manuals downloads

http://support.sony-europe.com/manuals/index.aspx?site=odw_en_GB#m=RDR-HX870

It seems to be only available in Slovenian (probably only produced for that region?)

On right side of page select from drop down box 'home video', second drop down select 'dvd recorder' then in third drop down you should see your model number RDR-HX870 (without D). Download is 3.16mb.
Hope that helps and you can read Slovenian?

Sony dvd rdr gx300 failure to delete discs

You can delete titles on a DVD+/-R, but it will not free up disc space. These are not "rewritable (RW)" disks.

To reuse discs, start with a DVD +/-RW. Be sure to format it "VR," not "Video."

OK..I see the problem now.. Basically, you have to set both the remote and the recorder to the same command mode. (Default id DVD3). Please see the user manual I have posted in your premium query. It will tell you how to do this on page 22.
