That means getting rid of the limescale build up in the machine.
When the limescale becomes to much the machine slows dow.
buy a descaling solution at your local convenience store or grocery store. Use it as adviced on the bottle but do this twice in a row because a 30-40 minute brew means a lot of blockage. When you do it the second time turn the machine off after half the solution has gone through. Let stand for about 30 min and than turn machine on again. Flush twice with full pot of clean water and you will see that is will improve your time

Sorry chaps, all these suggestions are wrong. The orange light on the small cappuccino button means the unit needs to be descaled. See Nespresso support to download the user guide and you'll see this explained there

Talea giro descale already done but red led of descale has not gone

I was told by tech that if you hold the water button in for a few seconds then this resets. It depends on what kind of water you use too. If you use filtered or spring water then you don't need to descale it as often and you can override this by above method. Hope that helps.

Needs descaling, I don't have the manual, what is the procedure??

Hi Auto descale: To automatically descale your machine, press the scoop or menu button and hold it down until you enter the menu. Use the arrows on the to scroll up until you come to "Descale". Press enter and the machine will enter the mode to descale your machine. The process takes about 45 minutes. You don't have to do a thing except mix a full water tank with descaling solution and have a container under the steam wand when your start. If you have a cappuccinonatori on your machine you will need two containers. To start the descaling process simply turn the steam knob. When the process is over your machine will say "Descale finished". Remove your water tank and rinse it out. Refill it with fresh water. Replace on the machine and close the open the steam knob again. Let it quit on its own. Refill tank again and prime the machine and your ready. Exit "Descale mode and scroll down to "Reset descale", press the enter button and chose "Yes", then exit and your ready for the next time.

How do you fix a ventilation problem

Ventilate means water is not moving through the machine or the machine is not noticing the movement of water.

Try to use the water button to clear the ventilate message. Allow the water to run for a minute. If no water comes out then the hot water valve is stuck and cannot open until you open the valve manually and clean it well. If you don't think you can complete the repairs yourself, then you may want to bring to a service center. Descaling with a descaler like http://www.cerinicoffee.com/Saeco_Espresso_machine_descaler.asp will help prevent these issues.
