Question about Computers & Internet
I have a 19" Microtek 997M monitor that only stays on for a second or two then goes to a black screen.
If I turn the power off and back on the screen turns on a gain for a second or two and turns off again. At the same time the power on light continues to stay on.
I saw the other remedies to fix this problem but want to know if it will also work for the Microtek as there are 6 capacitors (pairs of two) next to the transformer.
I can't tell what size twwo of them are as there is only jibberish stamped on the can.
Any suggestions? The monitor light shows green meaning it is on and ready.
I boot up my mac mini, the "Chang" sound is heard, the light on the monitor turns yellow, then in 2-3 seconds a bright green light and then no light is shown. not another light.
1. checked power cord, O.K.
2. checked the signal cable connection, O.K.
3. adjusted brightness and contrast controls..but the monitor is black screen, no use there.
4. don't have a power saving mode?
The inverter is the most common item to fail on a LCd monitor. Capacitors usally fail the most. Are the tops of any of them popped up. If you had any shorted transistors the fuse would probably be blown. Usally labeled F1. I would replace all the capacitors first and go from there. Capacitors are cheap.

My MICROTEK 997M monitor would not stay on. Opened it up and found two capacitors bulged on top from heat located next to the transformer. Bought them at $050 ea. and changed the two caps marked (470uf 25volts 105deg C) The monitor is now working perfectly. The other three in there but not changed are as follows: (two caps 1200uf 10volt 105deg C) one cap 330uf 25volt 105deg C) THANKS FixYa !!!! and members posting.
