Thanks for the info..But im curious about the difference. Someone will say replace 2.2k ohms 1w and others will say just 2.2 ohms. there a difference between 2.2k and a 2.2 ohms without a k?..Im not a electronic guro..cause i have change my 2.2 ohms to 2.2k ohms, now i have no pics and a thumping noise off my speakers:(

No, they are special resistors they need to be metal film 5% 1 watt resistors. Radio shack wont have them. You can get some at the following link, but they have a 10.00 minimum order so you may have to purchase a couple exrtra for spares but they do ship for free. Heres the link.

Yes there is a big difference between the 2.2 ohm and the 2.2K the 2.2 ohm is just 2.2ohms but the 2.2K ohms is 2200 ohms. thats a big difference and your set wont work unless you go back with the 2.2ohm 1 watt resistors

There must still be a resistor or two that is either open or has increased invalue. you may need to replace the convergence board itself as the enclosed portion of that board has the memory Ics incased in the metal box may have been compromised when the 2.2K ohm resistors were installed the convergence board for your model is available.

My tv is 3D.....I purchased the repair kit, but it did not come w/the right resister. I went to radio shack and they can't read the # on the olld resister, so I need to know what number should it say on...

What is the location number of resistor on the board? I assume you are replacing the STK ICs
is one resistor in that circuit? It has to be a low ohm resistor What are the Band Colors on resistor?
Example brown,red,black 1.2 ohms

Ur tv still have convergence problems,if u can't reajust manually crosses or auto convergence.U must have 2 not just 1 STK convergence ICS to be replaced, all the resistors must test by the Ohm mulitimeter to the right resistance of the resistor's and replace them as require.

I had a convergence problem on my JVC AV-48WP30, and followed the instructions posted by SD Tech. I used STK-392-150 chips and I replaced 1 burned out resistor that had no bands, but was marked 1.8 ohm J...

Yes, it does not happen often but you may have installed or got a new chip that is bad--you did apply heat sink compound to the new chips?

Check all the resistors carefully when you do this and double check all the soldering you do.

Let me know if you need help.

I have a jvc av48wp30 tv and need a wire diagram

Looking the convergence board from the side of the resistors (The chips will be behind the resistors), you have from de left to right:

1.5 ohms, 150ohms, 220ohms, 2.2ohms, 3.3 ohms, 220ohms, 1.8ohms, 220ohms, 150ohms, 150ohms, 1.5ohms, and dispose horizontal in relation of the other resistors (the one near to the Ic is 2.2ohms and the other is 220ohms).

Hope this helps...

JVC AV-56WP74 Convergence part #'s

(2) STK392-110 Convergence Amp ICs
(3) 220 ohm 2watt metal film resistors
(3) 150 ohm 2watt metal film resistors
(2) 1.5 ohm 1watt metal resistors
(2) 2.2 ohm 1watt metal film resistors
(1) 1.8 ohm 1watt metal film resistor
(1) 3.3ohm 1watt metal film resistor
You can get the entire convergence repair kit which contains all the parts listed at the following link its called the AV48WP30 Convergence repair kit , but it applies to your model as well, and they include free installation instructions.

Replaced the convergence ICs

If you replaced both ICs you may have a blown resistors usually the 1.8 ohm 1 watt resistor or the other ones next to it will be blown if you still cant do alignment after repalcing ICs

1 Answer

Jvc av-48wp30 convergence problem

1. if the 1.5 ohm resistor was open, then you may have fried your new convergence ic's. Sorry
2. bettween a 1.5 - 1.9 ohm resistor will work
3. press sleep button, set to 30
hold down video status button and press display on remote
select convergence from the new menu and hit OK.
Do fix the convergence before you try to align the convergence or it will look horrible after you get the circuit fixed and will be harder to align.

The white button is there because the DCU (digital convergence unit) can be erased by holding that button and turning the set on.

Hope this Helps.
