Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

I have onboard sound on a 3 month old Acer Aspire computer, it looks like its either 5.1 or 7.1 sound. What the problem i'm having is the sound is surging, meaning that it goes very loud all of a sudden and returns to normal them sometimes goes quiet. I updated my drivers, and it did say they were already up to date, and everything is working properly, although it isn't. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, it does it when i play a CD, Mp3,....even when i'm playing a game. I figure it is a bad file also but i updated the drivers and they said they were fine. But i didn't uninstall the drivers and re-install them so i will try that.

if it surging most likely it the files that bad

i doubt speakers will surge unless you got a bad smell coming from them.

Try the speakers on another device like an ipod or something with an aux port see if the speaker surges if it does, then perhaps the speakers are bad. time to replace.

good luck

Question about the integrated audio on an Acer desktop...

Actually, it's more the speakers, you can have the greatest sound card in the world, but plugging in a 10 dollar set of pc speakers is not going to sound good. That's why a good motherboard has Optical SPDIF Out Port, so you can put the sound to a receiver.

It's HD 5 channel, but likely your sound blaster is better.

Acer aspire x1700 black screen, makes high pitched noise, doesn't respond

You may have damaged or dislodge a component.
I suggest you remove the cover and reseat the RAM modules and all the cards in the expansion slot (unscrew them pull them out of the expansion slots and insert them back then secure them with the screws.
If it still does not boot up then you need to take the computer to a computer repair shop.

I have a acer aspire m1640, with the motherboard fails, if i can not fix it, what motherboard, acer apart, can i mount it? thank you

There are a few options you have on this, but if you want to maintain full compatibility with your current hardware, then you must purchase a motherboard that supports DDR2 533/667 MHz SDRAM since that is what comes standard in Acer Aspire M1640 Desktops.
A few options that would be similar to stock motherboard would be:
Foxconn G31MXP-K I7 or Biostar TForce TG31-A7
Those motherboards have similar specs to the stock motherboard and you can take a look at the specs of the Acer Aspire M1640 from this link below:
http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/desktop/0000/Acer/AspireM1640/AspireM1640sp2.shtml
Both those motherboards I have linked you too are microATX boards, which should fit fine in your case which may be a standard ATX case.
If you are willing to upgrade your ram, then your options open up to any motherboard that supports the Intel Pentium Dual Core processor. Since the stock motherboard also provides onboard video, chances are you don't have a video card plugged into your motherboard (unless you've upgraded that yourself) which means you should also look for a motherboard that provides onboard video so you don't have to purchase a video card.

Good luck!

Need to remove an old sound card from an acer aspire e360

If it is actually a sound card and not an onboard sound card then it is easy. Power down the unit, disconnect the network plugin as well as the monitor. What you are doing is removing possible static electric or voltage spikes in the system which can short out the motherboard, so anything that is or has a plugin on your system, meaning usb as well unplug. Once you have done that then all that remains is the screw in the back of the case and the side panel should come off. Once that is open you will be able to see the sound card. Remove the screw holding the sound card in place then the sound card. Once done insert a blank into the place where the sound card was and button everything back up and reconnect all the devices again and you should be good to go

Computer speakers no sound

I'm assuming Windows XP on a PC Desktop but the concepts are the same no matter what operating system.

1. Are your speakers plugged in to a power source?
2. Are they turned on?
3. Is the volume turned up on the speakers?
4. Are your speakers plugged into the (usually green) audio port on your computer? 5. Go into control panel, sounds and audio devices and check to make sure that sound is not on "mute".
5. On the Audio tab, check to make sure it shows a default sound device for each item. If not, either your sound card is malfunctioning or you need to download and install a current driver from the Acer website.

How to disable onboard (Nivida 6100) video on a Acer Aspire E380 so I can install a EVGA 8800GTS and 650w PS.

Shane,

First Connect your Monitor cable to the onboard connector.

Then boot your PC
After the Acer logo disappears press <Delete> on your keyboard to enter BIOS
From there you should be able to find the option to change the default Videocard to PCIE

press <F10> to save and exit
Shutdown PC
Switch Cable to Nvidia 8800GT and reboot
You should now be able to finish installing your new Vid Card

Hope this helps
Dave

Loss of graphics - Acer Aspire 3600

Hey there besafe, the problem of your video driver is easily solved. If your computer is new, then you may have the driver CD for the motherboard installation. Alternately you can download the driver from the motherboard manufacturers website, assuming the video is onboard. If it is an installed video card, and you are without the driver disk, you can usually get the specific driver from the manufacturers of the video card website, specific to your OS. These drivers are easy to install therefore the best first step. If that does not work, then look at the hardware. If you have a video card installed, reboot your computer and enable the onboard video. If this works, then your video card may need replacing, preferrably with something having a higher built in memory and more suited to your usage. Hope it helps. Good Luck!
