Question about Foxconn P9657AA-8KS2H Motherboard

Foxconn P9657AB motherboard installation problem

I just bought this motherboard to replace my old ECS board. I hooked up all my components, but when I have the power connected (not the system on) there is a red light in the lower left corner of the board, right next to the SATA connectors and the front panel pins, that stays on. When I turn the system on the light turns off but the board beeps for a straight 5-6 seconds and there is no response on the display. Oh I also put a new graphics card in too (but processor, HDD, and such are the same.). Any ideas on why the red light is on and why it beeps would be greatly appreciated.
Oh also the numbers by the light say R450, if that means anything.

It is one long beep that lasts for 6 seconds, stops for a second and repeats as long as the system is powered on.

Awesome info Mike, I will test the memory per your suggestion. I do have 2 different brands of memory; 2gb Crucial sticks in slots 1 and 3, and 1gb OCZ gold sticks in 2 and 4.

    rytech: I have a core 2 duo 2160 and a 700wat PSU.

I got a feeling im using memory that runs at different speeds (800mhz and 522 or some thing arond that).

OK There a few more things I need to know?

    Which processor have you installed?

What size PSU )Watts) is installed

    Thanks

I will be able to help you if you could tell me the pattern of the beeps. Does it beep in a sequence? ie one beep every second for six seconds or groups of three beeps for six seconds etc.

These beeps are a diagnosic tool as the computer cannot output to the display

But based on what you say i would if possible try the old graphics card.

You're Foxconn board uses the Award bios.
The long beeps you are hearing are telling you there is a problem with you're memory.
You're pic does not look like the Foxconn P9657AB-8EKRS2H MB as shown in the user manual. Found on This link.
http://www.foxconnchannel.com/product/Motherboards/detail_overview.aspx?ID=en-us0000297
The pic on Foxconn's site does but not the manual listed.
The motherboard uses four 240-pin slots with 1.8V for DDR2 memory only.
(Question? Did you're ECS MB use DDR2 memory)?
If you have more than 1 DIMM installed remove all but 1.
Move the DIMM into the closest slot next to the CPU.
Boot the PC & check for beeps. If still presant move the DIMM to the next slot & try again. Continue this through all four slots. Than try another DIMM. If the mother board continues to beep as mentioned than call Foxconn. (There is a bios update mentioned below for memory).
The CPU may come into question. (It’s revision). You may have to call Foxconn for this information. (580-272-0035). They do not place this information in their user manual. Most users have to call. The rev of the CPU may conflick with the memory causing you to receive the bios beeps. (I have had to return 2 boards for this reason). I picked an Asus board over Foxconn.
I have come across this with Foxconn motherboards these past two years. Suggest you update you’re bios. Foxconn has a revision dated, 3-28-2008 for memory before you call. After bios update test the memory again for beeps. Still there? Return the board is my suggestion.
It’s a guess that the red led will go away after the memory issue has been addressed. Normally there is a green led on most motherboards. This means standby. The board has power connected. I could not find any reference in the user manual * .pdf, for R450.

Good Luck ninjo61!

The memoey must run at the same speed, 800Mhz would be faster.

I bought Foxconn 755A01-6EKRS Motherboard for my HP pc replacement. i install my AGP VsionTek x1300 graphic card and turn it on and nothing show up on screen...then i put the graphic card back to my old HP...

Your new Foxconn motherboard Primary Graphics Adapter settings in set to onboard vga that is why there is no display in your monitor. Do not install yet your agp video card. Use first the onboard vga of the motherboard.
Power up your computer and go to the BIOS settings. Locate in bios about the Primary Graphics Adapter settings and then select AGP. Save changes and the exit. Turn off your computer and now install the agp video card.

do you have the setup cd that came with the board. the drivers probably need to be installed. if so run the disk and install the drivers and it will work.

Wiring hookup instructions for ecs 945 gct -m mATX motherboard

Hi joe, if you're question refers to ECS 945GCT-M motherboard, than goto page 12 in the manual. You'll see this
77d37bb.jpg Please read all of pg.12.
It's my guess you bought this board from powerspec. For now forget the two red wires & just hook up the case's wires for all LED's & on/off. Everything should be just fine.

Good Luck!
