Your exhaust vent is probably plugged. Remove venting from the dryer and check for lint build-up, and also check the vent flap on the outside of your house for clogs. If venting appears to be clear, you might have a bad blower (although you should notice an abnormal noise with that).

When you say it runs for 8 - 10 seconds, do you mean it spins for that long or the flame is lit for that long?

Maytag Neptune Dryer with strong "burned electrical wiring" smell

Sounds like the motor went out. Before trying to start it it needs to be inspected. If you are not comfortable opening up the cabinet then I would would recommend calling a service tech. If you need further assistance please let me know.

Wont start, smells like something is burniing

if its electric burning smell, its either a overheating motor, capacitor or both or burnt connections, sounds like a motor problem,it will be very hot to touch if its failing, check capacitor though as it could be causing motor to overheat, rating of cap is on side

My maytag neptune gas dryer model #MDG3000AWW When I push the start button on my maytag neptune dryer it sounds like it wants to start but doesn't and then it gets this smell like something is burning?...

It sounds like the drum bearings are seizing up preventing the drum from rolling easily, and when the motor runs, it can't pull the drum belt around the drum that won't turn, so starts squealing and burning the belt.

You need to lubricate/replace the drum bearings, and replace the belt.

Maytag neptune dryer wont restart mde 3000 aya

Your dryer needs a new motor. It should cost about $200-250 including labor. Call a local repairman - not a national company. Give him the model number and ask him to bring the motor with him.

Good luck!

Wont start up.

Sounds like the motor is failing. The main cause of failure is overheating due to clooged venting. Is the dryer taking more than 60 mins to dry?? If so then the vent is clogged. Its likely too that the motor is covered with lint and not being able to properly dissipate its own heat, you could clean it and see if it helps but usually once they are shutting down overheated (the burning smell is the motors' internal windings being very hot) they need replacement.
