Hi I have the same problem, did you have any luck fixing yours?

    thank you

Mine quit about 3 days ago, would take about 10 minutes to turn itself on after clicking on and off. Sister in law had the same problem last month (she got her's when we did) she paid $ 500 for repair.  We called samsung and they gave us a local repair shop and said we could pay for repair and then send them diagnostics to see if they would refund. But I might just forget it and not have a TV. Anyone else had this problem?

Just to clarify - do the resistors HAVE to appear bulging or leaky for this to be the fix for this issue? I have the same problem but when I look at my motherboard cm812,cm811,cm817, and cm806 all look fine. They are the original 1000uF 10V resistors but they appear to be ship shape. I have sound but no video. TV clicks like it's going to start, sometimes I get a flash on the screen like it's trying to light the fire, but then poof no video.

My Samsung LN-S4041d starting clicking and within two days would not turn on. I found an article online concerning the same problem with leaking capaictors. I pulled out the motherboard and my capacitors cm812,cm811,cm817, cm806 were leaking and/or bulged. I went to radio shack and purchased 4 1000uf 35v replacements. It took about 45 minutes to install, which I had never done before, and the TV works perfectly. It cost me $1.59 for each capacitor, $9 for a soldering iron, and $4 for rosin-core solder. Hope this helps your situation.

Okay it looks like there are 2 main power issues with these Samsung units - one is the clicking issue where the capacitors mentioned need to be replaced, the other is a cold solder joint where there is no clicking and the joints need to be re-soldered. Thanks to Madhu for discovering this. Following his advise I re-soldered the cracked joints AND replaced the capacitors while I was in there.

My samsung tv is making clicking noises and won't turn on

Clicking noises may mean a power supply voltage is not staying correct or that board is bad---a suggestion: visit who has by model number a list of all the boards used in almost every Samsung Flat screen set made.

TV makes a loud grinding sound periodically. When turned off and then back on the noise stops temporarily

This is the poorly designed power supplies in this model. You will need to open the tv and check for blown/burnt components and replace accordingly. You are having some sort of voltage issue that is causing the sound. I would attempt this repair soon so that you don't further damage your tv.

Please rate if this helped :)

You may want to check this:

There is no guarantee the problem is the same, but it is likely. The TV is different and the power board layout will likely be different, but the concept is the same.

In addition, it is possible that the problem is not in the power, but in the main board and if so it may not neccessarily be a capacitor.

But hey, it works one step at a time...

1. the motherboard might be bad and you will need to replace it. 2. or The power supply is bad
Chances are if its making clicks the power supply is bad and you will need to replace it. Which makes sense because constantly powering the tv on and off will damage the power supply or possibly short out your motherboard. These things usually cost about 200 bucks to fix at a local tv repair store.

Samsung LCD tv wont turn on

what the full model number of your tv?
the clicking sound is the result of a faulty power supply, some capacitors(blown heads) on the power supply for the output voltage rail of the mains board need to be replaced.
