The motor is overheating and control features cause it to shut off to prevent burning it out. First check the bag. If it is full, remove and replace with a new one. A full bag can cause the motor to work harder, and thereby overheat. Next check the filters. A dusty filter will keep air from cooling the motor and again cause overheating. The HEPA filter needs to be checked also. Most filters can be dusted off. Some can be washed, air-dried, and replaced.Others will need to be removed and replaced. Your owner's manual should tell you how to clean filters. I hope this helps. If it solves your problem, please let Fixya know and post a rating for my solution.

Why doe my hoover mach3 stop during operation? I have to wait until the moter cools down. Then i turn on the switch normal way. Then a few minutes latter it stops again.

Your Hoover is stopping because it is overheating. This is a sure sign that there is a blockage somewhere. Find the blockage and clear it, and that should solve the problem.

After a few minutes the hoover stops. After waiting a few minutes it runs again but the problem keeps repeating

You haven't stated the exact make and model but in general what you're experiencing is a safety feature: your machine is overheating and cuts out to prevent a fire.

Check that the bag isn't full and also check the moving parts for anything which is preventing proper operation. I can't give you specifics as you haven't even said whether it's a cylinder or an upright cleaner.

DO NOT continue to use your vacuum cleaner until you know what the problem is. In it's present state it's a fire risk.

Stops after a few minutes

Its overheating, so the TOC (thermal overload cutout device) is cutting the power to the motor to protect it.
Thats why it works when it has cooled down.
Check for blockages and make sure the filters are clean, if it still happens take to an approved engineer to check the TOC

Eureka the Boss bagless

Sounds like you have a clog somewhere. Check the filter inside the dust compartment, if is very dirty it won't allow ait to flow thru, Part #62132, DCF-H filter. Check the hose, take it off if you can and drop something in it to see if it comes out the other end, if it doesn't, then the hose is clogged. Check bown by the brush roll, the inlet may be plugged. Also if the belt is more then say 6 months old, you may want to replace it, I am sure it is strertched, part #61120B, extended life belt.

Motor stops running after a few minutes

One thing you could have a bad motor control, part #05408630, mounted by the motor, the other could be a bad variable speed control, part #05412914, it is on top near the back.
