Flash buttons

I am in an online college situation. Presently I am creating Web pages for a Web site. Each week we have to create a new page, save it and then compress it.
I have followed the instructions but after I save it, Internet Explorer will not allow the buttons to show. Only an empty box with a red X. That is problem Number 1. The it is visible. Anyway to stop Internet Explorer from ruining my flash buttons?
The next problem is that after I compressed the page the Internet Explorer does the same thing only when I click Yes to allow the view the flash button icon disappearances completely.
This is getting very frustrating. Thanks.
