Do you hear noise when you try to spin? No? you may have a bad lid switch. Yes? you may have a bad coupler or plugged pump. Let me know which it is (and what you model number is [located just under the lid towards the rear], and I'll send you a walk through.

If your washer fills with water but doesn't agitate, the problem is likely to be a faulty lid switch, a broken belt, or a problem with the motor. (Note: Direct-drive washing machines do not have belts.) To diagnose the problem, do the following: 1Check the washing machine's spin cycle.

I have a700 series top loader washer,and the agitator wont agitate,it will spin,but wont agitate why?

The agitator itself is stripped or loose is one possibility. Take agitator off to see if it is damaged.

Washer wont spin....it agitates and drains but wont spin when it gets to the spin cycle. timer still moves.

Tough to say without doing some testing. First thing to check is the coupling. It may sound like its agitating and may not at all. IF it really does agitate and won't spin, I would start diagnostically testing the timer. That isn't something your average homeowner can do though.

Hi, Do you know if the washer agitated at all? If the washer does not agitate or spin, the coupler is most likely the cause. If the washer agitates and does not spin, it could be spin basket drive or transmission.

Maytag washer wont agitate

Well if it does it in all cycles you can rule out the timer. I would say the agitator is maybe striped out.

Wont spin

just the agitator wont spin? take the top off it, then you pull the cap off. there should be a bolt down there to take off. then pull the middle half off and replace th 4 agitator dogs.

Kenmore washer 80 series 110 model not spinning.

unless your washer is over 20 years old, then it wont have a belt. the temperature of the water wont have anything to do with it spinning or not.
need to know if it agitates or drains and just wont spin.
if it agitates but no spin or drain, then you have a bad lid switch.
if it wont agitate or spin, but will drain, then you have a broken drive coupling.
