If you have the owners manual for that car it will be in there. if not you can bring it to a dealer of the car you own and they can pull it up.

The batery on my 1998 beatle died now the radio does not work when i turn it on a message apears that reads safe and that is it any ideas

Your anti-theft has been activated. If you have the manual that came with your radio, follow the instructions from the pamphlet. If not, go to the dealer and get the code for the radio. By US law, the dealer must provide the anti-theft code free of charge. Once you have the code, press and hold the mode and scan buttons, and as soon as 1000 displays, immediately release the buttons. Enter the code using preset buttons 1,2,3 and 4. 1 for the first digit, 2 for the second digit and so on, until you've typed in the correct code. Press and hold mode and scan again, until safe again appears on the display. If entered correctly, a radio frequency will display after a few seconds and your radio can be used again :D

I have a 1991 pontiac bonneville. My radio displays loc because the batery recently died. The batery is OK now but the radio will not turn on and I was told I need a loc code or factory backup code. Please...

yes you do. your car has an anti theft device in it so it is something you will have to call the dealership about. it should be free so no worries! it should be in your owners manual if you still have it
