hi we are trying to tune in our video into the television we where given the tv so no instructions please can you help

  • Opalina Nov 28, 2008

I have the same problem. I was given a Matchline 36" tv and when I go to the menu, I get four options - picture, sound, features and programs. I do not get any INSTALL menu. I've tried 2 philips remote controls (from other tvs) and I get the same. I do not have the original remote control for the tv. The child lock is off, so why is the install menu missing or hidden?

I cannot tune the tv either although I have the original remote control. Unfortunatly I do NOT have the instructions to go with them. There are no installation options under the menu headings like you say. Have you discovered anything different yet?

Under the flap on the remote control, there are two buttons with a line and two arrows drawn between them, press both of these buttons together and the instalation menu will appear, choose automatic installation and in about 5 minutes the TV will set istelf up.

Hi,

I have since found the solution. I purchased a remote control for this tv. It is not the original but it is programmed as the original. Anyway, I still couldn't tune the tv in with this remote until I contacted Philips and they gave me the information on which combination of buttons to use on the original remote control in order to get the install menu up on the screen. And I used this combination of buttons on my programmed remote control and it worked :)
So for HaydenJones who has the original remote, here is the solution;
You need to hold the button with the picture of the clock and the botton with the question mark in together and that will bring up the install menu. As far as I remember these buttons are in the hidden compartment on the original remote control. On my remote control it was neccesary for me to also hold in the F (function) button in order it to work.
I hope this has been helpful.

This doesn't seem to work since the digital switchover as on my Maatchline TV it has to be in analog mode in order to access the inastallation menu. I have now lost my Freeview channels following the switchover and don't know how to get them back.

How do I tune TV channels on my Sharp CX48G4 TV without a remote control? There is no tuning / settings panel on the TV itself which is very strange.

press the preset button on the front panel once then (TV should be on) the on the screen there should be words the likes of (Auto VHF 1 60.00mhz) now the Auto stands for auto tuning VHF stands for its frequency where its going to search the 1 stands for the channel where its going to start with 60.00mghz stands for the lowest signal to which its going to start now that you have understood all that just press the volume up button then it will automaticly locate all your working channels leave till it stops for when does it will start from channel 1 to which I believe that you be able to see the channel working so press the up button on the channel button to check the rest of your channels hope this will solve your problem!

Tv problems

Hi,

I am assuming that you are using cable and not an aerial/antenna.

On your concern "...channels do not tune...correct channel numbers...", it is possible that when you re-tuned the TV your setting was set to AIR or STD, try to re-tune again but this time pls verify that you are in CABLE mode. If on the other hand you are using aerial/antenna, then it is the other way around.

Channel 0 would automatically be your Audio/Video (which is where your DVD/VCR is connected). If you re-tune, chances are that Channel 0 ) would be back. To be on the safe side, pls power on likewise the DVD/VCR.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Channel Programming

Is this an U.S. made tv? or are you using a universal Sony purchased outside the U.S. If it was made here, then you probably have a bad tuner.

Your TV is set to Antenna. You need to go into the menu and change it to Cable. Then do an autoprogram.
