Your monitor's driver is probably corrupt. You need to go to the manufacturer's website, and redownload it.

Syncmaster 920N 5 Minutes of dark Screen It takes 5 minutes for screen to light after computer has been awaken from "sleep" mode or if monitor has turned off while listening to music online.

Hello Dfrank,

The 920N units use the same power supply board that the 710T uses and it was a known issue with bad capacitors that fail. When they fail it can cause the issues that you are having - Either slow to show a picture, wavy display or no power and flashing power light. The boards can be repaired if you can do a little soldering, the parts are cheap. We have a step by step repair guide posted on our tech support web site at: This is an easy repair for a very nice monitor, well worth repairing it.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

Out of the blue, the icons on my desktop are fuzzy/wavy. One day fine, the next fuzzy/wavy. I hooked up another monitor and got the same result. Any suggestions!

I'm assuming that you have tested the other monitor by using another cable so in that case the video card on your pc is dying, replace it.

Monitor has very slow turn on time, about 5 minutes, even when computer is on and in sleep mode, when you hit a key it takes about 5 minutes for monitor to fire uo

The usual cause of the slow display start up is the power supply. When you turn the monitor on or wake it from power save the power supply starts up but if it does not get stable voltages then it will not display a picture until they do stabilize. When the power supply starts to fail you can get this type of symptom. Other indications of failing power supplies include blinking power lights, fuzzy or wavy display or even a high pitched sound coming from the back of your monitor. If you cab solder then you should be able to do the repair yourself. We have a step by step repair article posted on our web site at: Look it over and see if this is something you can do, if you don't want to do the repair yourself we do offer a repair service. Here is the link to request a service number on your monitor,

There's a colored bar that comes up on the screen that says "Out of Range" and the images on the screen are all fuzzy and wavy. The monitor is about 2.5 yrs old.

You need to set the PC video output to be at the monitor native resolution, look for the spec of your monitor to find what the resolution should be.

Wavy lines, goes black during video games.

It sounds to me like the monitor's refresh rate is too low to support your current settings, and the demands of the game. Have you tried adjusting the refresh rate? If I'm right, you should be able to fix the wavy lines that way. I'm not sure how much control over the refresh rate the game takes, but if you can fix the wavy lines and the game still doesn't work, I think you're not likely to get the game to work on this monitor.
