Is the router not obtaining a lease for your internet provider?
If you plug the router direct to your computer does it get online? If so your ISP (Internet Service Provider) is probably doing what is called MAC Address filtering. Which only allows a specific computers network card online. Most routers have "MAC Address Cloning" which will set the routers MAC address to that of your computers. Please check your routers manual for this feature and how to set it correctly.

Who is your internet service provider if it is DSL you need to configure router for a PPPoE connection your DSL provider will provide you with username and password. IF it is cable configure router for dynamic connection and clone mac address. If does not work. Power cycle router and modem then turn on modem first then router.
